The paper outlines supporting teachers’ use of information and communication technologies, which have been realized by Jozef Lompa Voivodeship Pedagogical Library in Katowice. The author identified the following forms of support: conferences, trainings and workshops, e-learning courses, webinars, publications, an educational blog, computer classes and competitions. The article is accompanied by an extensive bibliography that includes employee publications on the use of ICT.

Artykuł dotyczy wspomagania nauczycieli w wykorzystywaniu technologii informacyjnokomunikacyjnych (TIK), realizowanego przez Pedagogiczną Bibliotekę Wojewódzką im. Józefa Lompy w Katowicach. Autorka wyodrębniła następujące formy wsparcia: konferencje, szkolenia i warsztaty, kursy e-learningowe, webinaria, publikacje, blog edukacyjny, zajęcia komputerowe oraz konkursy. Do artykułu dołączono obszerną bibliografię, która uwzględnia publikacje pracowników dotyczące wykorzystania TIK.

Social media has become an important tool of communication with users of pedagogical libraries. They most often use Facebook to keep in touch with the environment. On the example of the analysis of the fanpage of the Józef Lompa Provincial Pedagogical Library in Katowice, its significant communication role was demonstrated after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and contributing to the development of the facility’s offer has been demonstrated. At that time, it served as a tool for providing information, promoting collections, popularizing the activities of the library and other institutions, and implementing educational tasks.

Media społecznościowe stały się ważnym narzędziem komunikacji z użytkownikami bibliotek pedagogicznych. Do utrzymywania kontaktu z otoczeniem najczęściej wykorzystują Facebooka. Na przykładzie analizy fanpage’a Pedagogicznej Biblioteki Wojewódzkiej im. Józefa Lompy w Katowicach wykazano jego istotną rolę komunikacyjną po wybuchu pandemii COVID-19 oraz przyczynienie się do rozwoju oferty placówki. Służył wówczas jako narzędzie do przekazywania informacji, promocji zbiorów, popularyzacji działalności Biblioteki i innych instytucji oraz realizacji zadań edukacyjnych.

Pedagogical libraries attempt to use available online tools to promote their activities. The article presents various Web 2.0 tools which enable libraries to create and publish valuable content and allow them to communicate with their patrons, i.e. readers. The author attempts to analyse the degree to which these tools are used in pedagogical libraries.

Biblioteki pedagogiczne dokładają starań, aby wykorzystywać dostępne narzędzia internetowe do promocji swoich działań. W artykule zaprezentowano różnorodne narzędzia wpisujące się w nurt Web 2.0, umożliwiające tworzenie i publikowanie wartościowego contentu i komunikację z czytelnikami – klientami biblioteki. Podjęto także próbę analizy, w jakim stopniu są wykorzystywane w bibliotekach pedagogicznych.

The legal status of libraries in Poland was defined by the decree on libraries and the care of collections dated 17 September 1946. This decree was repealed by the Act on libraries, dated April 9, 1968, which was repealed by Article. 31 of Act on libraries, dated 27 June, 1997. The legislature didn’t define the concept of a library, but only pointed out the basic tasks of the library. Not every entity that uses its name in code “library” is a library within the meaning of the Act. Public libraries can’t be combined with other institutions, school libraries or pedagogical libraries. The Act regulates the notion of library materials, the National Resource Library, the competence of the Council for this resource, the tasks and functions of the National Library Council. The problem is in the library policy, which hasn’t been defined in the an appropriate manner. In addition to public libraries, there are scientific, school and pedagogical libraries. The law doesn’t regulate the status of library staff. The important role of libraries show numerous provisions of the Constitution
