Artykuł jest retrospektywną analizą społeczno-edukacyjnego programu „Pogwarki węgrowskie”, realizowanego w Węgrowie na Podlasiu w latach 1988–1991. Celem programu była próba aktywizacji społeczności lokalnej wokół miejscowej historii, tradycji, indywidualnej oraz zbiorowej biografii, a także pamięci społecznej. Podstawą przedstawianej analizy są wybrane koncepcje rozumienia i badania pamięci, m.in. koncepcja „miejsca pamięci” (Pierre Nora) oraz pedagogiki pamięci (Duccio Demetrio), a także założenia metody animacji społeczno-kulturalnej w środowisku lokalnym. Artykuł przedstawia założenia, cele i metodę „pogwarek węgrowskich”, przebieg tego programu, zawiera też fragmenty ówczesnego „dziennika badań” oraz wybrane inne dokumenty. Można przyjąć, iż tekst ten jest przyczynkiem do problematyki rozwoju badań środowiskowych we współczesnej pedagogice społecznej

The article is a retrospective analysis of the community educational program „Pogwarki węgrowskie” (Chatting in Węgrów) which was run between 1998 and 1991 in Węgrów (Podlasie region of Poland). The goal of the program was the social activitation on the local community, based on issues of local history, individual and collective biographies and social memory. The article employs the theoretical perspective of the place of memory (Pierre Nora), the concept of pedagogics of memory (Duccio Demetrio) as well as method of socio-cultural animation in local community. In the paper the approach, aims and the methods of “chats in Węgrów” are presented, as well as the experiences of the realisation of the program. Among the sources used in the text are the field work dairy and other documents. The paper develops the idea of community research in contemporary social pedagogics
