The text is devoted to a relatively new profession in Poland, which is a financial advisor and characterizes the most important activities performed by a financial adviser as a part of personal finance planning process. The process of personal financial planning by the households has been internationalized (ISO 22222: 2005). Although the profession arose in 1969 in the United States, its international expansion led to the presence of over 175,000 CFP (Certified Financial Planner) advisors in 2017 in nearly 30 countries around the world. By 2025, there will be CFP advisors 250,000 in 40 countries around the world. In Poland, this profession is at the initial stage of the development, only in 2010 it was entered into the list of professions, and in 2013 the standard of professional competences was adopted. Prospects for the development of the profession in Poland are very good, especially in the context of growing wealth of the society, credit expansion in the scope of consumer and mortgage loans, inefficiencies of the state pension system and aging society.

The article presents the stages of the evolution of non-bank financial intermediation in Poland – from credit intermediaries to financial planners. The evolution results from a number of factors: economic, social, regulatory and technological. Customers expect not so much selling a particular financial product but a solution to their financial problem, find the best deal. In the next few years, we expect consumers will apply a holistic approach to their financial flows, along with the diagnosis of goals and needs, and the document implementing these expectations will be a personal financial plan prepared by the financial planner. As shown in the article, consultancy in the area of holistic, personal financial planning now is better responding and in the future will respond to customer needs than intermediation in the sale of financial products.

W artykule zaprezentowano etapy ewolucji pośrednictwa finansowego w Polsce – od pośredników kredytowych do doradców (planerów finansowych). Ewolucja taka wynika z szeregu czynników o charakterze ekonomicznym, społecznym, regulacyjnym i technologicznym. Klienci oczekują nie tyle sprzedaży konkretnego produktu finansowego, co rozwiązania ich problemu finansowego, znalezienia najlepszej oferty. W perspektywie najbliższych lat oczekiwanie konsumentów będzie dotyczyło całościowego ujęcia ich przepływów finansowych wraz z rozpoznaniem celów i potrzeb, a dokumentem realizującym te oczekiwania będzie osobisty plan finansowy przygotowany przez doradcę finansowego. Jak wykazano w opracowaniu, doradztwo w obszarze planowania finansów osobistych w ujęciu holistycznym bardziej odpowiada i w przyszłości będzie odpowiadać na potrzeby klienta niż pośrednictwo w sprzedaży produktów finansowych.
