W artykule opisano czynniki powodujące powstanie pieniądza wirtualnego bitcoin. Powstał on na gruncie opozycji do współczesnego systemu pieniężnego, w odpowiedzi na narastającą nieufność wobec banków centralnych i współczesnych rządów. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest scharakteryzowanie czynników kształtujących popyt na pieniądz wirtualny bitcoin oraz próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, czy i w jakim stopniu różnią się one od czynników, które występują w klasycznej keynesowskiej teorii „realnego” pieniądza, reprezentowanej szeroko w literaturze przedmiotu.

The article describes factors at work behind the creation of the virtual currency Bitcoin, which came about as a result of opposition to the modern monetary system and growing distrust for modern central banks and governments. The purpose of this article is to characterise the factors shaping the demand for Bitcoin. It attempts to answer the question of whether and to what extent they differ from factors presented in the classic Keynesian theory of „real” money represented widely in the literature.
