In this article, we will try to reflect on how modal verbs poder and dever behave when used in juridical texts. We will focus specifically on its frequency in epistemic, deontic or diffuse usage, as well as on the relevance of context to decode and properly interpret the meaning of these verbs in a given sentence.

This empirical study analyzes the tensions around the devotion to the Mother Queen Thrice Admirable of Schöenstatt, which can be understood as a way to resist the changes proposed by the Second Vatican Council with regard to popular piety. This devotion emerged in Schöenstatt, Germany, in 1914, and expanded to several European countries. In the 1930s it arrived in Brazil consolidating itself with the foundation in 1948 of its first sanctuary in the town of Santa Maria, located in the state Rio Grande do Sul. Thanks to the role of layman this Marian devotion was disseminated to other Brazilian states and to other Latin American countries. It’s argued that the tensions around this Marian devotion would be related not only to the figure of its founder, priest José Kentenich, as presented by the ecclesiastical literature, but to the claims of the Catholic Church to achieve a more enlightened religion in matters of faith and religion, as expected by the Catholic nation project intended by the Vargas State. For both clergy paid special attention to other Marian invocation, Our Lady Mediatrix of All Graces, with which he intended to fight communism

In this work we analyze the symbolic representation of the dynamics of power in the complete poetry of Rosario Castellanos, one of the most important contemporary Mexican writers. It is studied how Rosario Castellanos links the effects of power networks with a dimension of metaphysical evil and deals with the liberating ritual process that the writer constructs in her life and in her work in order to approach self-affirmation.
