Artykuł przedstawia historię Katedry Języków i Literatur Słowiańskich na Uniwersytecie Fryburskim w Szwajcarii w latach 1980-2014. Jest opisem kształcenia polonistycznego od objęcia tej katedry przez prof. Rolpha Fiegutha do czasów obecnych. Nawiązuje i w pewnym sensie kontynuuje (choć nie tak szeroko) historię fryburskiej katedry spisaną i wydaną przez J. Starnawskiego w 1984 roku. Przywołuje osoby związane z polonistyką, pokazuje jej rozwój i dokonania. Artykuł napisany w roku obchodów 125-lecia Uniwersytetu Fryburskiego i jednocześnie rocznicy powstania Katedry Języków i Literatur Słowiańskich.

The article presents the history of the Chair of Slavic languages and literature at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland in the years 1980-2014. It describes the development of Polish studies from the time when Prof. Rolf Fieguth acceded to the chair to the present. The article refers to and in a sense continues (but without the scope) the history of the chair in Fribourg written and published by J. Starnawski in 1984. People connected with slavistics in Fribourg are evoked and its development and achievements are portrayed. The article has been written to mark the 125the Jubilee year of the University of Fribourg which marks as well the creation of the  Chair of Slavic Languages and Literature

The article contributes to the discussion regarding the state certificate Since the new legislation in 2015 was introduced, the number of for-eign sessions of the state certificate examinations in Polish as a foreign language has significantly decreased. The article aims to show the impact of the amended legal provisions on the availability of the certificate examinations outside of Poland and, consequently on the level of knowledge about them among potential candidates in Italy. The article is based on the results of the survey conducted by the au-thors among the students of Polish studies in Italy.
