The paper discusses some lexical and communicative aspects of Slavic intercomprehension. The article presents a transitional stage between the availability of information value in translingual communication and non-understanding. It seems likely that the analysis of translingual communication itself may secondarily verify the theory of understanding language messages. At the same time, the reflection on the positive transfer − its meaning and scope − is one of the most important elements of the contemporary language policy of the united Europe.

Niniejszy referat omawia leksykalno-komunikacyjne aspekty słowiańskiej interkomprehensji.
This article is an attempt to draw readers’ attention on the role of borrowings from Roman languages in teaching Polish as a foreign language. Author has shown the results of her research concerning ability to recognize Roman borrowings among people learning Polish as a foreign language at basic level and her conclusions made from the research.
