The article deals with the problem of anti-discrimination education in the Polish school in the context of the important role of the teacher in this process. The aim of the authors was to draw the attention of the teaching community to the fact that one of the most important tasks and challenges facing contemporary female and male teachers is to shape anti-discrimination attitudes in children and school youth. This task is difficult, yet feasible. The factor determining the effectiveness of these activities is, according to the authors, the anti-discrimination competences of educators, presented in this article.

Artykuł podejmuje problematykę edukacji antydyskryminacyjnej w polskiej szkole w kontekście istotnej roli nauczyciela w tym procesie. Celem autorek było zwrócenie uwagi środowiska nauczycielskiego na fakt, że jednym z ważniejszych zadań i wyzwań, stojących przed współczesnymi nauczycielami i nauczycielkami jest kształtowanie postaw antydyskryminacyjnych u dzieci i młodzieży szkolnej. Jest to zadanie trudne, lecz wykonalne. Czynnikiem warunkującym efektywność tych działań są, zdaniem autorek, zaprezentowane w niniejszym tekście, kompetencje antydyskryminacyjne pedagogów.

Współczesna edukacja szkolna jest krytykowana za jej mierne osiągnięcia dydaktyczne i wychowawcze. Konieczna jest zmiana ról społecznych i edukacyjnych nauczyciela, szczególnie dotyczy to jego podmiotowości. Nauczyciel w procesie dydaktyczno-wychowawczym winien być inicjatorem pozytywnego współdziałania z rodzicami i innymi ośrodkami wychowania równoległego. Musi podejmować decyzje pedagogiczne w sposób twórczy, odpowiedzialny, kierując się dobrem wychowawczym i rozwojowym uczniów. Podmiotowość nauczyciela wiąże się również z wysokim autorytetem wśród rodziców, uczniów i całego społeczeństwa.

Modern school education is being criticized for its average didactical and educational achievements. A change in social and educational role of teacher is necessary and it is especially connected with subjectivity. A teacher in didactical and upbringing process should be an initiator of positive cooperation with parents and other educational institutions. He needs to make pedagogical decisions in creative and responsible way, following the upbringing and development weal of students. Subjectivity of a teacher is also connected with his authority among parents, students and whole society
