In this article, I briefly present a new way of understanding school maturity, which I refer to as “neuropsychological maturity for school learning,” and propose that the assessment process extend to the significant areas of child psychomotor development. I present a new procedure for school maturity assessment in children aged six and seven, taking into consideration gross and fine motor skills, static and dynamic balance and some primitive reflexes which can affect the process of learning. Then I present the results of research conducted on 57 children and describe the levels of neuropsychological maturity for school learning obtained in the study. At the end of the analysis, I compare the obtained results.
