Wyszyński’s thought on work is the result not only of intellectual reflection on the achievements of European thinkers of Catholic social teaching but, above all, it is rooted in his personal experience of spiritual life and biblical formation. This article aims to attempt to answer how intellectual formation in the field of labour issues and labour legislation was shaped in the light of Catholic social teaching. The purpose of the article is also to seek answers to the following questions: what kind of social activity was undertaken concerning implementing the thought of the social teaching of the Church? What is work, and what are the aims of work legislation according to Fr. Wyszyński? What can Fr Wyszyński’s thought on labour legislation contribute to the contemporary doctrine of labour law?

Myśl Wyszyńskiego na temat pracy jest owocem nie tylko intelektualnej refleksji nad osiągnięciami europejskich myślicieli katolickiej nauki społecznej, ale nade wszystko ma swoje zakorzenienie w osobistym doświadczeniu życia duchowego i formacji biblijnej. Celem artykułu jest próba odpowiedzi na pytanie, w jaki sposób kształtowała się formacja intelektualna w zakresie problematyki pracy i ustawodawstwa pracy w świetle katolickiej nauki społecznej. Celem artykułu jest także poszukiwanie odpowiedzi na pytania pomocnicze: jakiego rodzaju aktywność społeczną podejmował w odniesieniu do realizacji myśli społecznego nauczania Kościoła? Czym jest praca i jakie cele stoją przed ustawodawstwem pracy według ks. Wyszyńskiego? Co myśl ks. Wyszyńskiego na temat ustawodawstwa pracy może wnieść do współczesnej doktryny prawa pracy?

Praca człowieka to zagadnienie będące w obszarze zainteresowań różnych dyscyplin naukowych. W niniejszym artykule rozpatrywana jest w ujęciu pedagogiki, a w szczególności jednej z subdyscyplin pedagogiki pracy. Jest to pojęcie uniwersalne, stanowiące ważny problem badawczy tej subdyscypliny naukowej. Celem rozważań w tym opracowaniu jest ukazanie aktualności uniwersalnego wymiaru pracy człowieka w świetle przeobrażeń społeczno-gospodarczych zachodzących niezwykle szybko, szczególnie w ostatnich latach. Zrobiono to wykorzystując analizę literatury, głównie najnowszej. Badania naukowe i analizy teoretyczne na temat pracy nie były ostatnio zbyt często podejmowane przez pedagogów pracy. Analizując literaturę na ten temat podkreślano kierunki i charakter permanentnych zmian w pracy. Uznając, że praca nadal jest i będzie wartością uniwersalną, przynajmniej w dającej się przewidzieć przyszłości, podkreślono konieczność dostosowywania edukacji, głównie zawodowej do antycypowanych zmian. Jest to więc nadal aktualny obszar badań i analiz dotyczących pracy człowieka oraz edukacji dla pracy, a także w toku pracy.

The work of man is a subject that falls within the interest of various scientific disciplines. In this article, it is considered from the perspective of pedagogy, specifically one of the sub-disciplines of labour pedagogy. It is a universal concept, constituting an important research problem in this scientific sub-discipline. The purpose of the discussions in this study is to show the relevance of the universal dimension of human labour in light of the socio-economic transformations that are occurring extremely rapidly, especially in recent years. This was done using a literature analysis, mainly of the latest research. Scientific research and theoretical analyses on the topic of labour have not been frequently undertaken by labour pedagogues lately. In analysing the literature on this subject, the directions and character of permanent changes in labour were emphasised. Recognising that labour still is and will be a universal value, at least in the foreseeable future, the necessity of adapting education, mainly vocational, to anticipated changes was stressed. Therefore, this remains a current area of research and analysis concerning human labour and education for labour, as well as in the course of labour.

The statement (which is accepted in humanistic pedagogy of work) that human work is a value and a sphere in which values become a reality, still calls for interpretation. The author makes such an attempt by outlining the characteristics of human work. The way of presenting human work in axiological and ethical perspective indicates that it is a phenomenon owing to which changes in both man and his environment are taking place. This, in turn, should be used by pedagogy in order to support man in his life-long development.

Przyjęte w humanistycznej pedagogice pracy twierdzenie, że praca człowieka jest wartością i terenem urzeczywistniania wartości, ciągle wymaga interpretacji. Autor artykułu podejmuje takie zadanie, ukazując swoiste cechy pracy ludzkiej. Ukazanie pracy człowieka w perspektywie aksjologicznej i etycznej wskazuje, że jest ona zjawiskiem, dzięki któremu dokonują się przemiany w samym człowieku i w jego środowisku. To zaś powinna wykorzystywać pedagogika do wspomagania człowieka w jego całożyciowym rozwoju.

W szeroko rozumianym środowisku pracy istotną kategorię pojęciową stanowi „zakład pracy”. Dlatego też w niniejszym artykule to właśnie tej podstawowej strukturze gospodarczej poświęcono (oczywiście w sposób wybiórczy) analizy i rozważania. Strukturę treściową opracowania autorskiego wyznaczają następujące problemy: okres aktywności zawodowej w wersji współczesnej, współczesna organizacja i rola zakładu pracy, rzeczywiste problemy humanizacji pracy, problemy efektywności i jakości działania zespołów pracowniczych we współczesnych strukturach gospodarczych. W prezentowanym opracowaniu zaakcentowano realne i wartościujące spojrzenia na rozwój i stan nowej polskiej rzeczywistości – od ostatniej dekady XX wieku po dzień dzisiejszy; głównie z pozycji pedagogiki pracy i innych nauk o pracy.

The author of the abovementioned paper claimed that in a broadly defined notion of professional environment, the head terminological category is ‘a work place’. Therefore, he devoted his analyses and consideration (in a much selective manner) upon this basic economic structure. The content structure of the above authoring consists of matter problems: the period of activity in the labour market in its modern version, the contemporary organization and role of work place, the true problems within humanizing work, the problems of efficiency and quality represented by activities of human resources within the modern economical structures. In the above paper, one highlighted both real and evaluative perceptions of the development and the overall state of Polish modern reality – from the last decade of the 20th century until today; mostly from the point of view of work pedagogy and other disciplines concerning labour.
