W artykule zaprezentowany został interesujący i wartościowy zbiór źródeł do dziejów prasy z okresu dwudziestolecia międzywojennego, jakim są sprawozdania sytuacyjne wojewody oraz starosty grodzkiego. Zakres zadań i metodyka ich sporządzania, które w tych latach ewoluowały, zrekonstruowano na podstawie zachowanych instrukcji, opracowywanych przez Urząd Wojewódzki Krakowski, w oparciu o wytyczne z MSW.
