This article attempts to present the structure and the functioning of the ‘Słowo Polskie’ Publishing Company in Lwów in 1895–1938 on the basis of primary source material from the Ukrainian Central Historical Archives in Lwów. Słowo Polskie [The Polish Word], a newspaper aligned at fi rst with the Galician democrats and later the national democrats, was a flagship of the company. Its fall triggered off the liquidation of the whole Publishing Company

Political speeches delivered by delegates after elections to the Ukrainian National Assembly were analysed in the paper. The structure of these speeches was discussed and the significance of the agitation speech as one of the most important propaganda texts based mainly on the adaptation and integration function was indicated. The language means used by the privileged speaker to impose his vision of the world were outlined.

This article deals with Edmund Libański, a cinema entrepreneur, author and translator of theatrical plays, aviation engineer, and popularizer of science. A lesser known aspect of Libański’s activities is his publishing venture, the launching of the periodical Przemysłowiec [The Industrialist]. It was published in Lwów between 1903 and 1911.
