To this novel type of statistical causality Bohr gave the name complementarity; the two mutually exclusive modes of description where said to be complementary, and they then conditioned each other in a statistical way. This relation of complementarity, expressing the limitations of the classical concepts, made it possible to give a complete and consistent account of the atomic phenomena in terms of such classical concepts of physics. According to N. Bohr, there is effort to achieving a more and more precise formulation of the complementarity idea, and to developing its wider ontological or gnoseological implications as soon as possible the phenomenological applications to others sciences, on this article, by the Quantum Mechanics.

The principle of complementarity, which comes from quantum physics, is close to the reciprocity between the clinical approach and its dramatic counterpart in Michel Houellebecq’s writing. As for the utopian questioning, this principle can be used as a pivot to study the ambiguity of the author's utopian writing. Taking this physical principle as a starting point, we will first try to analyze the various utopian or dystopian universes in Houellebecq's works, especially through the relationship between the individual and society. Then, by penetrating the Houellebecqian space, we will study the representation of non-places and traditionally utopian spaces in his work, according to the dichotomy between the clinical and dramatic components. Finally, in a narrative sense, we will consider the coexistence of an ideological and utopian narrative in Houellebecq's work, with the boundaries between the author's voice, the narrator's voice and the characters' voice blurred. The sphere of fiction and realism overlap.

The present contribution deals with recent trends of regionalizing international criminal justice, as in the case of the proposed extension of jurisdiction of the African Court of Justice and Human and People’s Rights over international crimes, and examines them against the background of the principle of complementarity, whose classic aim would be to allocate jurisdiction between the International Criminal Court and national courts. It is argued that the traditional understanding of complementarity may be extended to accommodate also regional criminal tribunals. A regional layer of criminal jurisdiction would therefore be introduced between the ICC and national courts. Given the overlapping but not identical scopes of jurisdiction, by the ICC, and the African Court, respectively, it is possible to conceive of them as potential partners working in parallel terms in prosecuting international (and transnational) crimes.

A review of contemporary theological publications that concern a variety of different issues lets one notice a certain regularity, i.e. frequent referring to complementary thinking or the principle of complementarity in the theological reflection. In the present article first the fact is shown that referring to complementary thinking has a significant effect on the quality and versatility of theological thinking. Complementarity that is a fruit of the Church’s Catholic character may be a way of reaching the Catholic fullness and a peculiar antidote against the threat of reducing all the wealth of the mystery of faith to some individual aspect only. In the second part a distinct presence of complementary thinking in various areas of the contemporary theological reflection is pointed to.
