Problemy okresu starości doświadczane przez mieszkańców domu pomocy społecznej

The main objective of this research was to identify the problems of retirement period experienced by the residents of nursing homes. The study concerned 120 residents one of the nursing home in Poland. The facility is designed for the elderly and chronically physically ill. The research has shown that: 1) health problems of the residents are most strongly represented by gastrointestinal diseases, impaired visual and auditory perception and disorders of the musculoskeletal system; the next is the process of dementia and depression, 2) seniors pointed out financial problems as more annoying than health problems.

Głównym celem badania było zidentyfikowanie problemów okresu starości, których doświadczają mieszkańcy domów pomocy społecznej. Badaniem objęto 120 osób zamieszkujących jeden z domów pomocy społecznej w Polsce. Placówka przeznaczona jest dla osób w podeszłym wieku i przewlekle somatycznie chorych. Badanie ujawniło, że: 1) problemy zdrowotne mieszkańców najliczniej reprezentowane są przez choroby układu pokarmowego, zaburzenia percepcji wzrokowej i słuchowej oraz schorzenia układu ruchu; w dalszej kolejności jest to proces otępienny i depresja, 2) seniorzy wskazali na problemy finansowe jako bardziej dokuczliwe niż problemy zdrowotne.
