Background. The basic tasks of physical culture associations, institutions or local government units include, among others, supporting physical culture activities. With proper funding and human factors’ involvement, they can become a significant element in creating a positive image of a town. Objective. The main objective of this study was to collect information concerning the sports image of Biała Podlaska as well as the involvement of local sports leaders in its development. Material and methods. The research covered a specially selected group of respondents – athletes, coaches, sports clubs authorities, local government representatives, and sports journalists. The study was conducted with the use of a structured interview questionnaire containing 15 questions. Results. The appraisal given to local leaders by the respondents leaves no room for illusions – a great majority of them are ineffective (60%) or partly effective (30%). Sports initiatives taken by the leaders were assessed in a similar way; 80% of the respondents perceive them as insufficient. Therefore, more than a half of the respondents are in favour of establishing a single organization with a leading position concerning sport in the town. Conclusions. The discussed issues seem to be crucial as they may contribute to bringing favourable changes in the approach of the local sports leaders to creating the image of the town.

Cel badań. Działalność człowieka w zakresie gospodarki (w tym w obrębie marketingu sportowego) musi być dziś skonfrontowana z aspektami ochrony środowiska. Celem badania było przedstawienie jednego z uwarunkowań (regulacje dotyczące ruchu), dotyczącego prak­ty­kowania wybranych dyscyplin sportu i usług z nimi związanych na obszarze Tatrzańskiego Parku Narodowego, które wpływa potencjalnie na kształtowanie się dóbr i usług w sporcie w tej geograficznej lokalizacji względem ich użytkowników. Materiał i metody. Do stwo­rze­nia opracowania wykorzystane zostały dostępne dane prezentowane przez Tatrzański Park Narodowy oraz obserwacja bezpośrednia. Wyniki. Dowiedziono, że istnieją pewne obostrzenia, które oddziałują na obecność sportowców na terenie polskiej części Tatr. Prze­kładają się one głównie na kanalizację takiego ruchu, jak też reglamentację dostępu do powyższych zasobów. Oddziałuje to również na stan infrastruktury, a w konsekwencji ­– na zachowania konsumentów. Wnioski. Czynniki regulacji ruchu turystycznego i sporto­wego w TPN wpływają na podaż dóbr, jaka dotyczy rynku sportowego w postaci pro­duktu spor­towego sensu largo.

Background. Nowadays, human activity in economy (including sports marketing) must be confronted with environment protection. The aim of the research was to present one of the conditions (regulations) for practicing selected sports disciplines and supplying related services in the Tatra National Park, a factor potentially influencing the development of sports products and services in this area. Material and methods. In the paper, data provided by the Tatra National Park were used, as well as direct observation. Results. The research proved that some restrictions had an impact on the presence of sportspeople in the Polish part of the Tatra Mountains. These translate mainly into controlling the traffic and limiting the avail­ability of resources. They also influence sports infrastructure and, as a consequence, the consumers’ behaviour. Conclusions. Factors regulating tourist and sports activities in the Tatra National Park affect the supply of goods in the sports market.
