The challenges the universities face refer not only to building their prestige but also to preparing their future graduates for a smooth transition onto the labour market. Social competences are crucial for the process and often determine the result of job interviews. Thus we need to take up a selective approach towards students because it is becoming important from the structural perspective and/or the development of their competences. One of the measures to achieve the goal is to identify students’ professional predispositions and types. The article focuses on selecting leaders and shows the correlation between their number and the quality of leadership competences.

Background. Firm self-esteem and the ability of assertive behaviour are essential teachers’ competences. They enable to establish right relations with pupils, and thus raise the effi­ciency of educational interactions. The aim of the study was to diagnose assertiveness and self-esteem among students who associate their future with the teacher profession against those who plan to take a different kind of job, and to explain the relation between the tested traits. Material and methods. The study involved 388 students from two Wrocław universities. Three tools were applied: the Polish adaptation of Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, a ques­tionnaire to determine the levels of assertiveness (‘I and others’ scale by Majewicz), and a questionnaire by Romanowska-Tołłoczko. Results. The study revealed a diversity in assertiveness and self-esteem levels in students. The future teachers represented an average level of assertiveness, and, in respect to women, an average level of self-esteem. Major self-esteem differences were observed in men; future physical culture teachers had much higher self-esteem than future teachers of other subjects. Conclusions. There is a positive correlation between self-esteem and assertiveness levels, which indicates the tendency of interdependence in the tested traits.

The article is an analysis of source materials as well as an interpretation of own research. The literature provides answers to the question of what professional predispositions related to the work environment are manifested by socially maladjusted male youth aged 17–18. The research is quantitative, equated with the positivist paradigm. It was carried out with the use of a diagnostic survey method based on a research tool consisting of 50 statements with a threepoint scale of answers. The project was carried out in a youth educational center. The selection of the research group was deliberate, because it was composed of socially maladjusted boys aged 17–18, towards whom increased activities related to the process of becoming independent are undertaken. The article contains a theoretical part analyzing the process of career planning

Niniejszy artykuł jest analizą materiałów źródłowych, jak również stanowi interpretacje badań własnych. Materiał dostarcza odpowiedzi na pytanie: jakie predyspozycje zawodowe związane ze środowiskiem pracy przejawia młodzież niedostosowana społecznie płci męskiej w wieku 17–18 lat? Badania mają charakter ilościowy utożsamiany z paradygmatem pozytywistycznym. Zrealizowano je przy pomocy metody sondażu diagnostycznego, z wykorzystaniem techniki testu i wybranym odpowiednio wystandaryzowanym narzędziem badawczym składającym się z 50 stwierdzeń, do których została przyporządkowana trzystopniowa skala odpowiedzi. Projekt zrealizowano na terenie młodzieżowego ośrodka wychowawczego. Dobór grupy badawczej był celowy, ponieważ stanowili ją niedostosowani społecznie chłopcy w wieku 17–18 lat, wobec których podejmowane są wzmożone działania związane z procesem usamodzielnienia. Zasadniczy materiał poprzedzono częścią teoretyczną analizującą planowanie kariery zawodowej.

The article describes methods of presenting the image of librarians and libraries in selected film adaptations. Key terms were defined - stereotype, image, librarian. The predispositions which a librarian must have are discussed and professional tasks are characterised. The images of librarians outlined in films are presented in two groups: positive (anti-stereotype) and negative (stereotype).

W artykule opisano sposoby prezentowania wizerunku bibliotekarzy i bibliotek w wybranych ekranizacjach. Zdefiniowano kluczowe pojęcia – stereotyp, wizerunek, bibliotekarz. Omówiono predyspozycje, które musi mieć bibliotekarz, oraz scharakteryzowano zadania zawodowe. Wizerunki bibliotekarza nakreślone w filmach przedstawiono w dwóch grupach: pozytywne (antystereotyp) oraz negatywne (stereotyp).
