The article is, to some extent, an excerpt from a doctoral thesis prepared under the supervision of Prof. Lechosław Lameński at the Department of Modern Art History of the Institute of Art Sciences of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. Mieczysław Górowski was involved in many kinds of creative work, which he understood very broadly: painting, design, art theory, psychology, and collecting. At the root of it all was the countryside and the folklore, rituals, and simplicity related to it. No matter what he did, he put the human being at the center of his interest. Rather than being interested in physical appearance, he paid attention to man as a certain configuration of thoughts and emotions. He studied and was curious about everyone. The article discusses the aspects that formed the basis of his work.

Artykuł jest w pewnej mierze fragmentem pracy doktorskiej, przygotowanej pod kierunkiem prof. dr. hab Lechosława Lameńskiego w Katedrze Historii Sztuki Nowoczesnej Instytutu Nauk o Sztuce Katolickiego Uniwersytetu Lubelskiego Jana Pawła II w Lublinie. Mieczysław Górowski zajmował się wieloma aspektami pracy twórczej, którą pojmował bardzo szeroko: malarstwo, projektowanie, teoria sztuki, psychologia, kolekcjonerstwo. U źródeł tego wszystkiego było miejsce pochodzenia – wieś, a zatem: ludowość, obrzędowość i prostota. Niezależnie od tego czym się zajmował, w centrum stawiał człowieka. I nie chodzi o jego zewnętrzne piękno – to go zbytnio nie interesowało. Ciekawił go człowiek jako pewna konfiguracja myśli i emocji. Pochylał się nad każdym i każdego był ciekaw. W artykule omówione aspekty, które stały się podstawą jego twórczości.
