The present paper aims at discovering what type of feedback Serbian teachers resort to when correcting their students’ mispronounced words or utterances. To accomplish the previously stated aim of the study, we conducted a survey investigating teachers’ preferences for specific types of corrective feedback and the results indicate that the most frequently employed type of feedback among Serbian EFL teachers is recast, whereas the least preferred one is direct or explicit correction. The total of 55 teachers from primary, secondary schools and colleges participated in the survey.

The importance of prosodic constituent in teaching pronunciation of French as a foreign language : access to meaning in speech Learning a foreign language means being in contact with a new environment of sounds compared to that of the mother tongue. The foreign language teacher must help learners to access these sounds both from a perception and a production point of view. The verbo-tonal method of phonetic correction designed in the 1960s-1970s by Professor Petar Guberina (University of Zagreb) provides teachers with tools to correct learners’ pronunciation. The aim of this article is to present some of the advantages of the VTM for phonetic correction, in particular with regard to prosody by showing how important this is for effective communication. This comes in response to difficulties noted by Polish-speaking beginners in French as a foreign language, in particular those concerning the rhythmic unit and the accentuation of rhythmic groups, which we will call « phonetic words ».

The aim of the article is to present the frequency of deformations in the pronunciation of sounds [ɕ], [ʑ], [ʨ], [ʥ] and to show which atriculatory features, closeness of which sounds, which positions in a word and which prosodic features have an impact on the frequency of incorrect realisations. Spontaneous statements of 30 young women with diagnosed disorders of palatalization in pronunciation [ɕ], [ʑ], [ʨ], [ʥ] sounds were the subject of the research. The results show unstable character of disorder (over 56% of the palatal sibilants in the examined statements was perceived as normative) and an impact of a complicated articulatory structure and of an articulatory energy needed for production of a part of statement on frequency of disorders.
