The article is an attempt to illustrate the female writers influence on the evolution of the crime fiction genre in Russia. It outlines a brief history of the genre, its complexity and the evolution of the main character. The article focuses on the works  of the most famous Russian female writers in terms of their contributions to the crime fiction genre. The author also brings attention to the intercultural dialogue which as a result of Chmilewska's direct influence can be found in the novels by the tsarinas of crime fiction.

Celem niniejszego szkicu jest interpretacja „Rodzinnej historii lęku” Agaty Tuszyń-skiej z perspektywy literatury holocaustowej. Tuszyńska, jako pisarka należąca do pokolenia poholocaustowego, w „Rodzinnej historii lęku” prezentuje wątki autobio-graficzne ściśle związane z problematyką Zagłady. Kwestię tę rozpatruje z perspektywy dorosłej kobiety, która nosi w sobie piętno Holocaustu. Jako przedstawicielka drugiego pokolenia nie przeżyła czasów wojny, ale jej skutki, w formie spadku przejętego od matki, odczuwa po dziś dzień. Autorka szkicu wykazuje, że zarówno na płaszczyźnie formy, jak i treści, posttrauma jest kluczowym aspektem dla interpretacji tekstu. Artykuł jest więc próbą zarysowania problematyki kobiecej prozy holocaustowej na przykładzie książki Agaty Tuszyńskiej, wpisania tego utworu w krąg badań prowadzonych w ramach trauma studies oraz współczesnych rozważań literaturoznawczych na temat Zagłady.

The aim of the article is to interpret “Rodzinna historia lęku” (“Family history of anxie-ty”) by Agata Tuszyńska from the perspective of Holocaust literature. Tuszyńska, as a post-Holocaust generation writer, addresses autobiographical themes closely related to the Holocaust. This issue is approached from the perspective of an adult woman who bears the stigma of the Holocaust. As a representative of the second generation, she did not experience the war, but she still feels its effects inherited from her mother. The author demonstrates that both in terms of form and content post-trauma is a key aspect for the interpretation of the text. The article is thus an attempt to outline the issues of women’s Holocaust prose based on Agata Tuszyńska’s book, and include it in trauma studies and contemporary literary reflection on the Holocaust.

W artykule podjęto próbę ukazania wpływów, jakie na literaturę popularną wywiera doświadczenie autobiograficzne. Ze względu na niezwykle szeroki zakres obszaru badawczego, niemożliwa jest kompleksowa, gatunkowa analiza zjawiska. Przykładem, mającym nakreślić tendencje występujące w literaturze popularnej, jest twórczość Joanny Chmielewskiej – proza z pogranicza gatunków. W artykule poruszono zagadnienia takie jak autokreacja autorki, inspiracje historią rodzinną, związki z teorią autobiografizmu kobiecego i zabiegi autoterapeutyczne. Podjęto próbę zdiagnozowania przyczyny zastosowania niedopowiedzeń przy jednoczesnych deklaracjach o ekshibicjonistycznej szczerości pisarki. Autorka zastanawia się, jakie znaczenie ma dla czytelnika wprowadzenie do literatury popularnej wątków autobiograficznych i co wynika z balansowania na pograniczu prawdy i fikcji w tym gatunku.

The article is an attempt to illustrate the influence of autobiographical experience on modern popular literature. Due to the wide scope of the field of study, the complete analysis of the phenomenon within the genre is impossible. An example illustrating this tendency in popular literature are novels written by Joanna Chmielewska – one of the most popular crime fiction writers in Poland and countries of the former Soviet Union. The main reason why Chmielewska’s works can serve as an exemplification of popular literature is that her crime stories are, in fact, novels between genres. The article touches upon issues such as self-creation, inspiration by family history, correlations with woman’s autobiography theory and auto-therapeutic treatments. The author tries to diagnose the reason for the use of understatements, which are used in conjunction with declarations of exhibitional honesty of the writer. The author considers the meaning of the introduction of autobiographical experience into popular literature to the reader and what is the outcome of balancing in-between truth and fiction in this field.

The aim of this paper is to depict the motif of Extermination in autobiographical women’s prose after 2000. The paper demonstrates that in recent years more and more authoresses of the second and third post-Holocaust generation have been writing down their traumatic experiences and the reason for this lies in the social stigmatization of Jewish people. It is stressed in the paper that the Holocaust issues are part and parcel of a cultural taboo and – similarly to women’s prose – they are frequently ignored or evaluated negatively. The Holocaust issues are tackled by contemporary young writers of Jewish descent who – contrary to the authors of the previous generation – did not experience the mass murder of Jews; however, they feel its effects today. The paper proves that in Poland we fail to carry out research on trauma studies, and devoting attention to the woman’s viewpoint is very rare. The quoted examples from the autobiographical novels written by Ewa Kuryluk, Agata Tuszyńska, Roma Ligocka and Magdalena Tulli show that this kind of writing is becoming more and more important within the literature focused on annihilation. In comparison with the autobiographical works of Marek Bieńczyk, Jan Tomasz Grossa and Michał Głowiński, the women’s holocaust stories are distinguished by authenticity, emotionality, intimacy and honesty of narration. The stories are devoid of pathos and they highlight the figure of a mother. Moreover, the confessions are based on the physical feeling of a legacy which has remained in their hearts and minds after the trauma their loved ones had to experience. We attempt to describe post-Holocaust women’s prose in comparison with Jewish literature in Poland as well as draw the reader’s attention to the characteristic features of these issues in comparison with the autobiographical works by men.
