The article presents chosen questions related to planning and realization of priorities of Lodz housing policy as main elements significantly impacting the quality of life of Lodz inhabitants. In its first part it focuses on analyzing the process of municipal housing privatization and presenting the main principles of this process. It next describes programs that are currently being implemented by the local authorities with the aim of improving standards of existing housing resources in midtown zone and adjusting them to current needs of their users. This text is also intended to call attention to the necessity of coming up with complex solutions for maladies in midtown Łódź, concerning not only the infrastructure, but, first of all, the inhabitants and the social problems that have existed for many years.

W artykule przedstawiono wybrane zagadnienia dotyczące planowania i realizacji priorytetów polityki mieszkaniowej Łodzi jako elementy mające istotny wpływ na jakość życia mieszkańców. W pierwszej części skoncentrowano się na prześledzeniu procesu prywatyzacji komunalnych lokali mieszkalnych i zaprezentowaniu jego głównych zasad. Następnie zostały opisane wdrażane aktualnie przez Miasto programy, które mają na celu poprawę standardu istniejących w strefie śródmiejskiej zasobów mieszkaniowych i przystosowywanie ich do aktualnych potrzeb użytkowników. Publikacja ma także zwrócić uwagę na konieczność kompleksowego rozwiązywania bolączek w strefach śródmiejskich, które dotyczą nie tylko infrastruktury, lecz przede wszystkim mieszkańców i nawarstwiających się tu od wielu lat problemów społecznych.
