The study concerns the study of the workflow process in the organizational unit of the Ministry of National Defense. The results of analyzes of the management system and workflows between the positions made it possible to formulate an assessment in the scope of: • diagnoses – detection of irregularities and weaknesses in the workflow process that allow modification of procedures, and taking corrective action for detected problems, • defining discrepancies – the awareness of the top management of the area of communication is radically different from the experience of subordinate employees, • shaping – satisfaction with the workflow process depends on the possibility of expressing employees' opinions and taking them into account when developing improvement proposals, • explanation – the sense of information is the result of making employees and management aware that the most useful source of information is the immediate supervisor, • improvement – evaluation of the implementation of solutions that are recommendations of the previous audit and maintaining corrective and preventive measures of disruptions is ensured by an efficient workflow system. In accordance with the principle of continuous improvement, the assessment of the functioning of the work flow in the audited institution has also become a tool enabling the improvement of functioning procedures and processes.

Niniejsze opracowanie dotyczy badania procesu przepływu pracy w jednostce organizacyjnej resortu Obrony Narodowej. Wyniki analiz systemu zarządzania i przepływów pracy pomiędzy stanowiskami umożliwiły sformułowanie oceny w zakresie: • diagnozy – wykrycie nieprawidłowości i słabych punktów procesu przepływu pracy umożliwiającego modyfikację procedur oraz podjęcie działań korygujących wykryte problemy, • definiowania rozbieżności – świadomość wyższej kadry menadżerskiej dotycząca obszaru komunikacji diametralnie różniąca się od doświadczeń podległych pracowników, • kształtowania – zadowolenie z procesu przepływu pracy zależy od możliwości wyrażania opinii pracowników oraz uwzględniania ich w opracowaniu pro-pozycji usprawnień, • wyjaśniania – poczucie doinformowania jest wynikiem uświadomienia pracowników i kadry zarządzającej, że najdogodniejszym źródłem informacji jest bezpośredni przełożony, • usprawniania – ocena implementacji rozwiązań będących zaleceniami po-przedniego audytu oraz utrzymywania działań korygujących i zapobiegających zakłóceniom gwarantuje sprawnie działający system przepływu pracy. Zgodnie z zasadą ciągłego doskonalenia ocena funkcjonowania przepływu pracy w badanej instytucji stała się również narzędziem umożliwiającym poprawę funkcjonujących procedur i procesów.

The article contains an introduction to BPM and presents the examples of BPM deployment in high schools. The main part of the article contains the key preparation and realization stages of BPM course for students of logistics at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (MCSU) in Poland. The main conclusions from the BPM market analysis and course preparation suggest that BPM competences are strongly desirable and BPN can be a powerful tool for improving organizational efficiency. Availability of many standards and tools makes it difficult to develop BPM course tailored to market needs and study programmes. Moreover ideal teaching software should cover the wide range of models and most popular standards as well as should reflect the whole BPM lifecycle. To meet the requirements we enhanced ADONIS software with tools for process automation like Bonita Suite.

W artykule zaprezentowano kluczowe etapy przygotowania i realizacji kursu zarządzania procesami biznesowymi dla studentów logistyki na UMCS w Lublinie. Główne wnioski wynikające z badań wskazują, że kompetencje związane z BPM są bardzo poszukiwane na rynku pracy, zaś mnogość standardów opisu procesów i narzędzi do dokumentacji utrudnia opracowanie uniwersalnego kursu BPM dostosowanego do potrzeb rynku. W celu sprostania ww. wymaganiom, w ramach zrealizowanych prac, zostało skonstruowane środowisko dydaktyczne zapewniające możliwość dokumentacji oraz symulacji i automatyzacji procesów biznesowych, oparte na systemach Adonis oraz Bonita Suite.

Modern information management systems are often driven by workflow engines, which require an accurate, detailed, and structured process description. Instead of theoretical modelling of such processes we propose a technique which can be a connection between traditional management (organisational structure) and business process management approach. In our work we present a case study where the automatic process mining techniques are applied to administrative processes in an environment of event logs recorded by DMS. We use event log data to discover and describe the process map of the organisation and to model structured process descriptions. Our approach allows for the extraction of models based on facts and it is a direct connection between the process model and raw data generated by the organisation. Such scenario increases consistency between the mapped model and the reality of the organisation.
