Some audits of NIK are of preventive nature. This was the objective of the audit of the performance of small sports and recreation facilities. The audit comprised, among other, playgrounds, outdoor gyms, skateparks, street workout parks and ropes courses. The auditors examined supervision of construction of such facilities, their equipment, technical condition, sanitation and safety. The audit covered the regional inspectorates of trade, local governors, local sanitary and disease inspectorates, local construction inspectorates, local offices and entities that managed small sports and recreation facilities in the regions of Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Lubuskie, Podlaskie, Warmińsko-Mazurskie and Zachodniopomorskie. In total, thirty entities were subject to audit.

Część kontroli NIK ma charakter prewencyjny. Taki też był cel badań funkcjonowania niewielkich obiektów o charakterze rekreacyjnym lub sportowym. Objęto nimi m.in. place zabaw, siłownie plenerowe, skateparki, street workout parki oraz parki linowe. Zbadano czy sprawowano nadzór nad ich budową i doposażaniem w nowe urządzenia, należycie nadzorowano stan techniczny, stan higieniczno-sanitarny oraz bezpieczeństwo istniejących obiektów. Kontrolą objęto wojewódzkie inspektoraty inspekcji handlowej, starostwa powiatowe, powiatowe stacje sanitarno-epidemiologiczne, powiatowe inspektoraty nadzoru budowlanego, urzędy gmin oraz jednostki zarządzające gminnymi obiektami małej infrastruktury sportowo-rekreacyjnej w pięciu województwach: kujawsko--pomorskim, lubuskim, podlaskim, warmińsko-mazurskim oraz zachodniopomorskim. Ogółem sprawdzono 30 jednostek.
