Human mental processes, emotions and actions are modified and conditioned by the intervention of other people. Social influence is present in every sphere of daily life, from relationships to mass phenomena. Persuasion constitutes one of the possible types of social influence. This article reviews some psychological theories of persuasive communication. Early psychological theories of the phenomenon of persuasion are described, models of persuasion are analyzed, and Robert B. Cialdini’s contribution to the science of persuasion is presented.

Procesy psychiczne, emocje i zachowania ludzi są modyfikowane i warunkowane przez interwencje innych ludzi. Wpływ społeczny jest obecny w każdej sferze życia codziennego, poczynając od relacji międzyludzkich, a kończąc na zjawiskach masowych. Perswazja stanowi jeden z możliwych rodzajów wpływu społecznego. W niniejszym artykule zostały przeanalizowane niektóre psychologiczne teorie komunikacji perswazyjnej. Opisano wczesne teorie psychologiczne perswazji, przeanalizowano modele perswazji oraz został przedstawiony wkład Roberta B. Cialdiniego w naukę o komunikacji perswazyjnej.

L’influenza sociale è presente in ogni sfera della vita quotidiana, dai rapporti ai fenomeni di massa. La persuasione costituisce una dei possibili tipi di influenza sociale. In questo articolo vengono analizzate alcune teorie psicologiche della comunicazione persuasiva. Sono descritte le prime teorie psicologiche del fenomeno della persuasione, vengono analizzati i modelli della persuasione e viene presentato il contributo di Robert B. Cialdini alla scienza di persuasione.

La persuasione probabilmente era presente fin dal primo scambio comunicativo tra gli esseri umani, in quanto l’uomo è sempre stato interessato a cambiare le idee e le opinioni degli altri e a convincere gli altri a comportarsi in un certo modo più che in un altro. Perciò i processi persuasivi costituiscono uno degli argomenti chiave della psicologia sociale. In questo campo si sono svolte tante ricerche che si sono focalizzate su vari fattori della persuasione. Nella nostra analisi in questo articolo abbiamo preso in considerazione tre di questi fattori: il messaggio, la fonte e il ricevente.

Persuasion may have been present in the earliest communication exchanges between people, as humans have always been interested in influencing the thoughts, beliefs and behaviors of others. Therefore, persuasive processes are one of the key issues in social psychology. In this area, there have been many studies focused on various variables relating to persuasive communication. In this article, we focus on the analysis of selected elements of persuasion, namely the message, the source and the recipient.

Perswazja mogła być obecna już w pierwszych wymianach komunikacyjnych pomiędzy ludźmi, jako że człowiek był od zawsze zainteresowany wpływaniem na myśli, przekonania i zachowania innych osób. Dlatego też procesy perswazyjne stanowią jedno z kluczowych zagadnień w psychologii społecznej. W tym obszarze przeprowadzono wiele badań skoncentrowanych na różnych zmiennych odnoszących się do komunikacji perswazyjnej. W niniejszym artykule skupiliśmy się na analizie wybranych elementów perswazji, a mianowicie na treści komunikatu perswazyjnego, źródle oraz odbiorcy tego komunikatu.

The article analyzes conflict as a phenomenon connected with persuasion – close to disputes or quarrels, yet not identical with them. The background for the considerations encompasses works from various fields: sociology, linguistics, philosophy, and psychology, but rhetoric remains in the very center. The author characterizes its part dealing with absolute winning in disputes, i.e. eristic, and it presents a counterbalance to it and to the agonistic attitude. This complement is eutoric (author’s own term) as a branch of rhetoric which concentrates on positive communication based on mutual listening, empathy and a constructive dialogue, which favors prevention of conflicts, or possibly resolving them. Eutoric has its source in philosophy of dialogue, pragmalinguistics, psychology of persuasion, as well as in the theory and practice connected with mediations and negotiations.
