Strict adherence to any elimination diet changes past styles of life of people. It refers especially to the ones who are obliged to introduce a diet because of a diagnosis of food-related illnesses, such as coeliac disease (CD). The constraints perceived by the individuals on a dietary regimen may have a negative infl uence on their psychosocial functioning. The diffi culties are usually experienced in the situations connected with public consumption like social events and family gatherings. The article is an attempt to analyze how the implementation of a restrictive diet affects the past lifestyle of people diagnosed with CD. The only way of treatment of CD is a strict and lifelong elimination of gluten. The results presented are based on literature and a survey carried out on a group of forty people diagnosed with CD, recruited among the members of The Polish Association of People with Coeliac Disease and on a Gluten Free Diet (GFD). The research tool was a socio-demographic and medical questionnaire of own authorship. The character of the survey was just preliminary as it is going to be followed by a further in-depth qualitative research in the future. The results of the analysis suggest that introducing a GFD may result in a worsening of psychosocial functioning of the suff erers, nevertheless some noticeable improvements in their somatic health. This explains why expanding the social awareness of the diffi culties experienced by people forced to undertake a GFD as a treatment is an important issue. It may contribute to the implementation of some good practices aimed at better quality of life of coeliac suff erers and elimination of barriers to regimen adherence they meet. It is of crucial importance as untreated CD may result in a gradual deterioration of their health status and occurrence of other serious diseases. Thus, supporting the suff erers of CD in adherence to dietary restrictions enhances their chances of maintaining an active style of life and more equal participation in social life.

Inteligencja niższa niż przeciętna to poziom sprawności intelektualnej mieszczący się pomiędzy -1,01 a -2,00 odchyleniem standardowym, tj. pomiędzy poziomem przeciętnym a upośledzeniem umysłowym. Osoby z inteligencją niższą niż przeciętna stanowią jedną z najbardziej zaniedbanych grup, zarówno w obszarze edukacji, jak również w systemie społecznym. Pomimo, iż jednostki te stanowią znaczną część naszego społeczeństwa (14% populacji) ich problemy wciąż pozostają ignorowane lub niezauważane. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest pogłębienie wiedzy czytelnika na temat problemów, jakich doświadczają dzieci i adolescenci z inteligencją niższą niż przeciętna w funkcjonowaniu poznawczym i psychospołecznym, poprzez prezentację rezultatów najważniejszych badań prowadzonych w tym obszarze w przeciągu ostatnich kilku lat na arenie międzynarodowej.

Borderline intelligence is the level of intellectual ability located between -1.01 and - 2.00 standard deviations, i.e. between the average level and intellectual disability. People with borderline intellectual function constitute one of the most neglected groups, both in education as well as the social system. Despite the fact that these individuals represent a significant portion of our society (14% of the population), their problems remain ignored or overlooked. The aim of this paper is to deepen the reader's knowledge about the problems experienced by children and adolescents with borderline intelligence in their cognitive and psychosocial functioning and the contribution of recent international research to this field.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie, a także analiza badań dokonanych przez różnych badaczy na rodzinach homoseksualnych wychowujących dzieci. Tematyka ta zostanie przeanalizowana na kilku płaszczyznach korelujących ze sobą: funkcjonowania rodziny, przebiegu interakcji i sposobu komunikacji pomiędzy poszczególnymi członkami, jakości funkcjonowania psychospołecznego dzieci z tych rodzin, jak również orientacji seksualnej dorosłych osób, wychowanych w takich rodzinach.

The aim of this article is to present, as well as the analysis of the research carried out by researchers from diff erent researchers on the homosexual families who are bringing up children. This subject will be examined at several levels correlated with each other: family functioning, process of interaction and the mode of communication between the members, the quality of the psychosocial functioning of children from these families, as well as sexual orientation adults who were growing up in homosexual families.
