Autyzm a odżywianie. O czym nauczyciel wiedzieć powinien

This article is a presentation of theories concerning the functioning of the alimentary system and the nutrition of autistic children. It synthetically describes the typical health problems of autisticchildren connected with faulty nutrition (disturbed metabolism, no tolerance to certain substances, allergies, lowered immunity and frequent developing of viral, fungal and bacterial infections, kidneyand liver dysfunctions). The article presents selected specialist diets, namely the hypoallergenic, gluten‑free, milk‑free, sugar‑free and antifungal ones, in the context of detoxification. Although it has notbeen scientifically verified, taking advantage of such diets in the case of children with the autism spectrum brings a lot of positive changes in their functioning according to the parents’ observations. This paper also contains an appeal to teachers to respect parents’ choices and prepare the whole schoolenvironment to support them.

W artykule prezentuje się teorie związane z funkcjonowaniem układu pokarmowego i odżywianiem dzieci z autyzmem. Autorka syntetycznie przedstawia typowe zdrowotne problemy dzieci z autyzmem, związane z zaburzeniami odżywiania (zakłócony metabolizm, brak tolerancji na niektóre substancje, alergie, obniżona odporność i częste zapadanie na infekcje wirusowe, grzybicze, bakteryjne, nieprawidłowości pracy nerek i wątroby). W kontekście detoksykacji omawia wybrane specjalistyczne diety – hipoalergiczną, bezglutenową, bezmleczną, bezcukrową i przeciwgrzybiczną. Stosowanie tych diet u dzieci ze spektrum autyzmu, mimo braku naukowych weryfikacji, zdaniem rodziców przynosi wiele pozytywnych zmian w funkcjonowaniu dzieci. Tekst przynosi także apel do nauczycieli o szanowanie wyboru rodziców i przygotowanie całego środowiska szkolnego do ich wspierania.
