Celem artykułu jest badanie konkurencyjności polskich regionów przy wykorzystaniu metody M.E. Portera oraz opracowanie rankingu regionów w Polsce. Przeprowadzone badania wykazały, że przy wzroście czynników wpływających na konkurencyjność regionów Polski ich wewnętrzna stratyfikacja nie jest równie podatna na zmianę. Oznaczać to może małą skuteczność polityki regionalnej państwa mającej za cel sprzyjanie zmniejszaniu dysproporcji regionalnych. Dominująca pozycja województwa mazowieckiego nie jest niczym złym dla gospodarki narodowej, natomiast utrzymywanie dystansu rozwojowego województw o najniższych pozycjach konkurencyjności wskazuje na wielokrotnie postulowaną konieczność podjęcia działań stymulujących ich rozwój, zarówno ze strony rządowej, jak i jednostek samorządu terytorialnego szczebla regionalnego i lokalnego. Wymaga to wprowadzenia działań o charakterze systemowym, które od trzydziestu lat nie wywołały pożądanych skutków w zakresie zmniejszania dysproporcji międzyregionalnych w Polsce.

The article describes competitiveness of Polish regions according M.E. Porter methodology. The competitive position of Polish regions was analyzed in four groups of factors: innovation in production process, demand conditions, branches supporting and business environment. The results of research indicate that the competitive position of Polish regions is increasing, but the disparities between them has not changed. Mazowieckie still has the dominant position among Polish voivodships. The persistence of the development between regions with the lowest positions of competitiveness indicates the repeated necessity of undertaking actions aimed at stimulating their development. These activities should be addressed both on the part of the government and local government units at both regional and local levels.
