The Kies probability model was proposed as an alternative to the extendedWeibull models as it provides a more efficient fit to some real-life data sets in comparison to the aforementioned models. The paper proposes classical and Bayesian inferences for the Kies distribution based on records. Maximum likelihood estimates are studied jointly with asymptotic and bootstrap confidence intervals. Moreover, Bayes estimates, along with credible intervals are discussed assuming squared and LINEX loss functions. The proposed estimation methods have been investigated and compared via simulation studies. A real data set has been analysed for illustrative purposes.

This article reviews the placing in Tale’s text history of three records of The Tale on the Origin of Tobacco from the collection entitled Pandok stored in Saint Petersburg archives which were not analyzed earlier: BAN, Lukyanov collection, No. 107 (XVIII c.); NLR, collection of Kolobov, No. 334 (XVIII c.), and IRLI, Severodvinsk collection, No. 29 (XIX c.). The author demonstrates that the Lukyanov record and the Kolobov record belong to type I of the Tale’s main revision by the Institute of Russian Literature, and the record of the Severodvinsk collection combined the patterns of type I and type II. Textual analysis helped to identify the records of type I and type II ex-amined earlier by the author which were most similar to the text of three Tale’s records analyzed in this article.

The 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) archive is a good moment to reflect on its operation. Its annual reports enable us to recognize the scale and quality of the archive’s operation. Reports prepared between 2003 and 2015 for various purposes and authorities show how the archive has fulfilled its basic duties. The quality of UKSW’s archive is monitored by the State Archive in Warsaw. As a interfaculty unit of UKSW, the archive also comes under the authority of one of the University’s deputy vice-chancellors. The archive mainly reports to these principal bodies on an annual basis. The archive holds the records of the Warsaw Theological Academy which was later transformed into UKSW.

The sources of legal history illustrate the functioning of state structure and the society à trawers les âges. They are doubtless cultural heritage and value. One can view them through prism that is: 1) historical; 2) cognitive; 3) cultural. It is worthwhile to note that a well-prepared edition of the sources of that type facilitates smuggling their cognitive and cultural values. The editing of the sources cannot be replaced by a digitalization of the archives. Of course, the digitalization is needed (since it provides better protection of the archives than the microfilms do, and facilitates the access to the source material). However it cannot replace the function of source editing. The latter, in fact guarantees their the cognitive and cultural aspects of the source material will be brought to light. When edited, the sources material is not only the tool, it turns also into a cultural value. The first Polish editions of sources of legal history were prepared in the 18th century. These were: Volumina Legum (a collection of parliamentary acts), and the edition of international treaties compiled by Maciej Dogiel. The material they contained was still in use in legal practice of the 18th century. In the 19th century the growth of interests in the Poland’s past was stimulative of further editions of sources. They were published in several series. Thus Antoni Zygmunt Helcel established a series Starodawne prawa polskiego pomniki while the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences printed Archiwum komisji prawniczej. Both series continued publishing the main legal acts and also those illustrative of legal practice from the 13th through 18th centuries. There were also some sources printed beyond the scope of these two series. The efforts of A.Z. Helcel, R. Hube, B. Ulanowski, F. Piekosiński, M. Bobrzyński, S. Kutrzeba and O. Balzer in source exploring were continued after World War II. Those engaged in this work were above all the researchers from Kraków, Warszawa, Poznań. The second series of Starodawne prawa polskiego pomniki was due to the initiative of the Polish Academy of Science, its editor-in-chief being professor Adam Vetulani. Following 1989 it is in the Chair of Polish Legal History at the Jagiellonian University that the task of source editing is continued. It has been for 15 years now that Professor Stanisław Grodziski and his co-workers are engaged in publishing Volumina Constitutionum which is a modern version of the edition of the parliamentary acts of the old-Polish nobiliary Republic. In this millieu it was also Ludwik Łysiak and Karin Nilsen von Stryk who were responsible for publishing the court records illustrative of the cases between 15th through 16th centuries. Professor Wacław Uruszczak and his collaborators were, in their turn, busy editing criminal court records between 16th through 18th centuries.

This article compares five Czech- and English-language manuals and resources for the transcription of spoken interactions for research based in conversation analysis (CA). The presented method of transcription can also be used in sociolinguistics, pragmatics and for research in Language Management Theory or language communities. The following materials were selected for comparison: the DIALOG corpus manual (Kaderka — Svobodová, 2006), the book Transcribing Talk and Interaction by Christopher J. Jenks (2011), a chapter from the book Doing Conversation Analysis by Paul ten Have (2006/1999) and two online modules by Emanuel A. Schegloff and Charles Antaki. The main purpose of this article is to familiarize readers with the selected publications and present them in an order appropriate for the gradual acquisition of transcription skills. Another aim is to create an overview of all particularities concerning transcription, so that mainly beginning researchers can acquire a complete image of the transcription process. The analysis of the selected materials focuses on current of the topics important for transcription: the theoretical background of a transcription, what can be captured in a transcription, the purpose of a transcription, the overall formatting of a transcription including the anonymization of data, transcription symbols. Furthermore, the paper touches upon additional aspects of transcription included in the materials: transcription software, the visual dimension of the data and the translation of the transcript.

The purpose of the article is to present a method of measuring and recording settlements with employees in respect of remuneration, and to present the results of empirical research. A thesis was adopted according to which a system of remuneration measurement, settlement and documentation that is complicated and incomprehensible to employees significantly reduces the implementation of the pay incentive function, which is also a factor characterized by a negative form of motivation. The subject of the study was the method of organizing the measurement and record of settlements with employees within the accounting system, and the scope of the analysis was limited to the basic principles of calculating remuneration. The results of the analysis of settlement with employees in the examined company showed that the adopted principles (recommendations) of effective motivation are not properly respected in the system and the process of settlement with employees in respect of remuneration. In particular, this applies to the principle of proportionality of inputs made and effects achieved, the principle of maintaining incentive thresholds and the principle of internalization of organizational goals and others. The research used the method of analyzing impact factors, case analysis and expert method.

Jako przedmiot badań przyjęto sposób organizacji pomiaru i ewidencji rozrachunków z pracownikami w ramach systemu rachunkowości, a zakres analizy ograniczono do podstawowych zasad naliczania wynagrodzeń. W szczególności dotyczy to: zasady proporcjonalności ponoszonych nakładów i uzyskanych efektów, zasady zachowania progów bodźcowych, zasady internalizacji celów organizacyjnych, i innych zasad. W badaniach wykorzystano metodę analizy czynników wpływu, analizę przypadku i metodę ekspercką.

The author deals with Polish publications about St. Joseph, which have been brought out since the close of the Vatican Council II. He submits them to an introductory theological assessment, first of all within the ecclesiological dimension. He also responds to the following question: has Josephology, developed in Poland, completely assimilated the light given by Vatican Council II? Almost a thirty- year old cult of St Joseph consists of papers delivered at annual meetings of the Polish Josephological Study Kalisz (existing in 1969), books, publications, and learned papers. The question that has most often been raised is the broadly understood history of the cult of St Joseph (39% of all the works), which dominated even the subject matter of the theological foundations, being part of the Josephological doctrine (only 21 % of all the research; it is especially apparent in the case of learned works). The questions of ascetic theology are rarely undertaken (15% of all the works), biblical theology (10%), history of theology (8%), and liturgy (5%), pastoral and ecumenical theology, patristic theology and history of art.

Having opened the first formative and educative institutions in Galicia, Salesians were supported by the Lvov archbishops, Józef Bilczewski and Boleslaw Twardowski, their benefactors and friends. Salesians opened two religious homes in Lvov in 1934 and 1936. In like manner they met the local social need. Their twelve-year activity in Lvov (1934-1946) concentrated on the formative work, which targeted at as many young people as possible. The Abrahamowicz Family Formative Institute as well as the Male Private Salesian Secondary School formed and educated boys. The Ostra Brama (Eastern Gate) church at Łyczaków, being a votive church for the liberation of Lvov, became a significant centre of religious and patriotic life in the interwar period. The school of crafts and dormitory - the ,,Living Statue" in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the defence of Lvov, the main formative work - were still under organization. Despite that fact, the accompanying work of propaganda triggered authentic enthusiasm and commitment among the community of Lvov. The outbreak of the Second World War, the period of Soviet and Nazi occupation, and the changed geopolitical situations of the eastern territories breached the activity of Salesians in Lvov. They failed to regain the Abrahamowicz Institute, which was taken in 1939. The Our Lady Church in Ostra Brama was closed in 1946 and designed for lay purposes. Last Salesians, together with some Polish parishioners repatriates, were forced to leave Lvov. Over the last decade there have been attempts on the part of the local Catholics to regain the Ostra Brama church, but they failed. Eventually, after successful endeavours the Salesians of the Byzantine-Ukrainian rite took over the church. They opened a pastoral care centre there. In the future, perhaps, they will open a formative and educative institution for young people, an institution they planned to open before the war.
