The paper contains the findings of a survey conducted in national parks in Poland. The research was addressed to the managing authorities of national parks (board of directors and organizational structures providing access for tourism). The survey deals with the perception of national parks in terms of three categories: recreation system, tourism product and tourist facility development. The findings enabled a detailed analysis of respondents’ attitude to the above mentioned categories and they were grounds for drawing conclusions concerning tourist and recreational use of national parks in Poland.

The author discusses the tourism geography research which has been undertaken at Lomonosov State University in Moscow over many years. This academic institution is one of the most famous research centres dealing with spatial recreation systems. At first (from the 1960’s), research was mainly on geographical and technical issues, but the research area was gradually enlarged for example to include social and humanistic elements. The best known research has been done on ‘spatial recreation systems’, ‘polarized landscapes’, the ‘recreational economy spatial complex’, and the ‘environmental model of a spatial system’.

Poznań has a very specific system of greenbelts lying along the main hydrographic axes of the city. Structural green corridors, allowing rest and regeneration, were created as a result of the urban forming of river valleys. Since one of the main aims of creating green corridors is to make them accessible an attractive in terms of nature and landscape recreational space, they are shown as a linear recreation system. The main purpose of the article is to present a proposal for the tourist attraction using the green corridors in Poznań, which consists of four essential parts: statistical, cartographic, descriptive, and visualization. Each part of the model has been presented on three informational levels: basic, detailed, and “special.” The preparation of the model was preceded by pilot research using interviews and surveys.
