The maxim de minimis non curat lex is commonly used in English law as well as by the lawyers who represent other common law systems. Nowadays, the circumstances of exerting the principle rouse doubts. Despite its rational grounds, it is hard to indicate clearly when it should be used. In the article, the origins, as well as the ways of its interpretation, were presented according to three contexts: legal literature, judicature and parliamentary discourse until the 19th century.

Zasada de minimis non curat lex jest powszechnie stosowana zarówno w prawie angielskim, jak i przez prawników reprezentujących inne porządki prawne zaliczane do rodziny common law Współcześnie okoliczności stosowania zasady budzą wątpliwości. Mimo jej racjonalnego uzasadnienia, trudno jest obecnie jednoznacznie wskazać kiedy należy ją stosować. W artykule przedstawiona została geneza zasady oraz jej interpretacja zarówno w literaturze, orzecznictwie jak i w dyskursie parlamentarnym po wiek XIX.
