The article presents two human attitudes towards nature: a selfish attitude and the attitude of responsibility. Selfish attitude treats nature as an object to satisfy human needs. In this case the environmental protection is caused by fear of the destruction of biosphere and, consequently, mankind. The attitude of responsibility is characterized by a subjective treatment of nature. In this case, the environment is protected because the nature has its internal values.

W artykule przedstawiono dwie postawy człowieka wobec przyrody: postawę egoistyczną i postawę odpowiedzialności. Postawa egoistyczna prowadzi do traktowania przyrody jako przedmiotu służącego do zaspokajania potrzeb człowieka, a ochrona środowiska wynika z lęku człowieka przed zniszczeniem biosfery i w konsekwencji człowieka. Postawa odpowiedzialności charakteryzuje się podmiotowym traktowaniem przyrody. W tym przypadku chroni się środowisko ze względu na wewnętrzne wartości, jakie ma przyroda.
