The work is devoted to the analysis and the interpretation of the verse of Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer The Birth of Spring. Immortal spirit of life (sun) wakes up the god of water, the goddess of odorous herbs and the god of forests from lethargy. The spring is arising thanks to those nameless deities of nature. The attempt of mythological identification of these forms was taken up in the context of the ancient and Slavonic tradition. It leads to the conclusion that Tetmajer wished to give the universal measurement to his vision, to point at the universality of experience or the significant experience of nature’s rebirth, which resembles the power and strength of love. The poet’s gods are nameless because they occur everywhere, but with various first names. Representation applied to the line resembles works by Arnold Böcklin who, similarly to Tetmajer (maybe still more), liked presenting the spring. It is possible to link these realizations to the subject of “saint spring” which appeared in an European work around 1900. The relationship of the work with the image Primavera (Spring) by Sandro Botticelli remains debatable, although this artist’s painting was not unknown for Tetmajer.
