The article presents the activities of the University of the Third Age in Katowice during the pandemic. The theoretical part characterizes education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The practical part presents examples of the University's activities aimed at seniors. The article is based on an interview with an employee of the facility and information posted on the website of the University of Silesia.

Artykuł ma na celu zaprezentowanie działalności Uniwersytetu Trzeciego Wieku w Katowicach, funkcjonującego przy Uniwersytecie Śląskim w dobie pandemii. W części teoretycznej przybliżono zagadnienie dotyczące edukacji w czasie COVID-19 oraz scharakteryzowano UTW w Katowicach. W części praktycznej przedstawiono przykłady działań UTW w Katowicach skierowanych do seniorów w oparciu o wywiad przeprowadzony z pracownikiem placówki oraz informacje zamieszczone na stronie uczelni.

Opracowanie stanowi analizę i przegląd opisywanych skutków pandemii COVID-19 dla życia społecznego, w aspekcie edukacji i systemu oświaty. Autorzy podjęli próbę syntetycznego opisania wybranych problemów pozostających na styku nauk prawnych, psychologii i pedagogiki, a które wyłoniły się w okresie stanu epidemii w Polsce, od marca 2020 roku. Rozważania dotyczą psychospołecznych skutków dla beneficjentów systemu oświaty, ich potrzeb i zasadniczych problemów. W kontekście prawnym poruszono zagadnienia wprowadzania nauki w formie zdalnej, reorganizacji systemu zarządzania szkołami.

Pojawienie się pandemii COVID-19 w Polsce było katalizatorem nagłych zmian edukacyjnych, związanych z koniecznością wprowadzenia nauczania zdalnego. Celem artykułu było ukazanie, jakie obszary okazały się kluczowe dla funkcjonowania nauczyciela i ucznia w ramach edukacji online. Omówiono wymiary dotyczące kompetencji cyfrowych, relacji interpersonalnych oraz pozytywnych i negatywnych skutków kształcenia na odległość. Zidentyfikowano główne trudności, z jakimi musieli mierzyć się nauczyciele i uczniowie. Przedstawiono postulaty nauczycieli dotyczące organizacji nauki zdalnej w przyszłości. Wnioski z przedstawionych badań skłaniają do refleksji, iż pozytywnym aspektem edukacji zdalnej był wzrost kompetencji cyfrowych jej uczestników, jednak zaobserwowano więcej jej negatywnych skutków, które dotyczyły m.in. obniżenia jakości edukacji, dobrostanu psychologicznego, fizycznego i społecznego.

The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland was a catalyst for sudden educational changes related to the need to introduce distance learning. The aim of the article was to show which areas proved to be crucial for teacher and student functioning within online education. Dimensions relating to digital competence, interpersonal relationships and the positive and negative effects of distance education were discussed. The main difficulties faced by teachers and students were identified. Teachers’ demands for the organisation of distance learning in the future are presented. The research lead to the reflection that a positive aspect of remote education was the increase in digital competences of its participants. However, it was also observed that distance learning introduced a decrease in the quality of education, psychological, physical and social well-being.
