The paper is devoted to the issues of implementation of STEM education in the learning process of educational institutions. The authors analyse the development of STEM education in Ukraine, determine the level of readiness of educators for understanding the principles of STEM education, and substantiate the need for the introduction of robotics into the educational process as a modern and important trend in STEM education. The concept of educational robotics is analysed. This makes it possible to identify the technical inclinations of students (at an early stage) and development of these inclinations, as well as formation of STEM competency in general. The study focuses on the interdisciplinary aspect of STEM education, in particular on the implementation of interdisciplinary links between STEM subjects and robotics in the conduction process of research and training projects. The authors provide examples of the implementation of robotics in the educational process based on the use of a project method. The article also includes a description of the project for the creation of the Juno Rover robot based on the Arduino robotic platform in university education and two examples of the robotics projects in school education (one of them is implemented on an open platform with freely distributed materials for creating and using 3D printed robots).

This essay engages the question whether it makes sense to talk about friendship between human beings and robots. Encountering the question of human and robot friendship, many might initially dismiss the possibility of such relationships out of hand. But such dismissals, it seems, based solely on the basis of species membership, are nothing more than unjustifiable speciesism. Mitias’s analysis of friendship is helpful, but makes the conditions for friendship demanding. Nevertheless, his framework implies that human and robot friendships are possible.

The aim of this article is to pose the question of who is the man in a world steeped in technology. Currently, through the significant growth of the Internet, we are in the middle of the road leading to the connection of all people in the world in one nervous system. Machines are the most important teachers of man. Not only in terms of learning specific things, but also in the sense that the role of the teacher described by Max Weber — in communicating our knowledge about how to be a man. With some caution we can say that the machines define human form of contact with other people. In conclusion, the author of the article considers the question of human nature in the light of such phenomena as the collective consciousness in the network, technological development and biohacking. The author introduces the concept of „machines” meaning the virtual body, computers, credit cards, terminals, camera, internet, networks, software, satellite and fiber optics. These are all elements merged in the „machine” that creates human behavior.

Adam Wiśniewski-Snerg (1937-1995) was a Polish science fiction writer. In his novel Robot (1973), he made an attempt at a literary visualization of a machine acquiring human identity. In this article I would like to follow the ethical consequences of such situations in created literary worlds. It is worth remembering, however, that these artistic worlds often serve to test non-literary reality. In his novel, Wiśniewski-Snerg also dealt with the problem of human feelings (e.g. moral dilemmas) in a thinking machine, which is formed in the image and likeness of a human being. Such literary reflection is valuable, partly because it enters into an interesting dialogue with the work of Bruno Schulz (1892- 1942), one of the most important Polish writers of the 20th century. It is also one of the first attempts in Polish literature to address the issue of sentient machines, and is a kind of preview of contemporary dilemmas connected with the work on the creation of artificial intelligence. An example of such a dilemma is the issue of the sentient machine’s perception of the tasks imposed on it by the human-constructor. Perhaps it will start to experience them as a kind of unethical oppression. In Wiśniewski-Snerg’s writing this problem of is, of course, expressed in a metaphorical way.

Philosophy should seriously take into account the presence of computers. Computer enthusiasts point towards a new Pythagoreanism, a far reaching generalization of logical or mathematical views of the world. Most of us try to retain a belief in the permanence of human superiority over robots. To justify this superiority, Gödel’s theorem has been invoked, but it can be demonstrated that this is not sufficient. Other attempts are based on the scope and fullness of our perception and feelings. Yet the fact is that more and more can be computer simulated. In order to secure human superiority over robots, reference to the realm of human relations and attitudes seems more promising. Insights provided by philosophy of dialogue can help. They suggest an ultimate extension of the Turing test. In addition, it seems that in order to justify the belief in human superiority one must rely on the individual experiences that indicate a realm that is not merely subjective. It makes sense to call it religious.

Intensely developing different forms of AI interfere not only in the labour market, consumer protection, the financial sector or the transport sector, but also in family life and marital life. The aim of this article is to assess from a legal point of view: the potential impact of the use of currently available forms of AI on the possibility to pronounce divorce; the possibility to replace a human judge with a robot judge in divorce proceedings; and the possibility to formalise (in the distant future?) relationships with robotic partners.

Hybrid IT systems with biological brains (hybrots) enhance our understanding of brain functioning. However, given their specific form of existence and their ability to act autonomously to a certain degree, they raise questions regarding attributing liability in case they cause damage. The aim of this paper is to suggest a scheme for attributing liability to these systems while taking into account liability issues related to artificial intelligence. Firstly, the paper describes the technology of hybrid systems, its history, state of the art as well as its technological constraints. Next, general social and ethical aspects of the technology are briefly described. Finally, the paper describes the main problems related to liability of hybrid systems and sets out criteria for determining liability for damages caused by hybrots.
