Autor stara się w ten sposób odpowiedzieć na pytanie: Czy coaching może być jedną z form poradnictwa zawodowego dla osób dorosłych? Poradnictwo zawodowe stanowi rodzaj działalności, która ewoluuje zarówno w zakresie treści merytorycznej, jak i stosowanych metod, technik i narzędzi. Zawarte w niniejszej publikacji informacje dotyczą analizy wyników badań własnych dotyczącej kwestii najczęściej stosowanej formy pracy z klientem w poradnictwie zawodowym osób dorosłych.

Based on the literature of a career counselor and coach methodology, the author of this publication tries to present what connects and what divides both working models with a client and how counseling and coaching model process looks like according to literature. The author tries to answer the question: Can coaching be one of the forms of career counseling for adults? Career counseling is a type of activity that evolves both in terms of substantive content and the methods, techniques and tools used. The information contained in this publication refers to the analysis of the results of own research regarding the most frequently used form of work with a client in adult career guidance.

Poradnictwo zawodowe stanowi rodzaj działalności, która ewoluuje zarówno w zakresie treści merytorycznej, jak i stosowanych metod, technik i narzędzi. Bodźcem dla przekształcenia poradnictwa zawodowego i rozwoju jego nowej koncepcji jest nie tylko rozwój badań naukowych, ale również zmiany ekonomiczne, polityczne oraz społeczno-kulturowe. Tendencja odchodzenia od tradycyjnych modeli poradnictwa zawodowego w kierunku coachingu powoli zaczyna być faktem, co autor przedstawia, odwołując się do badań własnych. Tekst stanowi zachętę do szerszego poznania metody coachingu w aspekcie jego wykorzystania w poradnictwie zawodowym. Zawarte w niniejszej publikacji informacje mają charakter wprowadzenia do cyklu artykułów, które autor planuje opublikować na podstawie analizy wyników badań własnych.

Career counseling is a type of activity that evolves both in terms of substantive content and used methods, techniques and tools. The transformation of career counseling and the development of its new concept is not only the development of scientific research, but also economic, political and sociocultural changes. The tendency to move away from traditional models of career counseling towards coaching is beginning to be a fact what the author presents by referring to own research. This writing is an encouragement to learn more about coaching as a method in terms of its use in career counseling. The information contained in this publication is an introduction to the series of articles, which the author plans to publish based on the analysis of the results of own research.

The authors of this paper reflect on the socio-cultural contexts for defining the role of counsellors. They indicate the differences and similarities of the role of the counsellor in different countries and cultures in the context of contemporary social changes. The authors emphasise the complexity of a counsellor’s role indicating context-related issues (social, cultural, political) in which counselling itself, understood as a social process or/and ‘culture product’ is anchored.

Autorzy niniejszego artykułu podejmują próbę rozważań o społeczno-kulturowych kontekstach definiowania roli doradców. Starają się wskazać podobieństwa i różnice w koncepcjach roli doradcy w różnych krajach i kulturach na świecie. Podkreślają złożoność kwestii wyznaczania roli społecznej doradcy, wynikającą głównie z kontekstów (społecznych, kulturowych, politycznych), w jakich osadzone jest samo poradnictwo, rozumiane jako proces społeczny i/lub wytwór kulturowy.
