The study examines 15-year-old respondents of study ELSPAC descriptions of representation of term „to date somebody“ and their descriptions of advantages and disadvantages of romantic relationships. The majority of adolescents currently have of had dating experiences in the past. We noticed that girls appeared to have more to say than boys about meaning of „dating“ and about negative aspects of romantic relationships. Respondents were the most likely mention general descriptions of romantic relationships. The second category was created by affiliative characteristics of romantic relationships (shared leisure activities, humor, fun etc.). Advantages of romantic relationships more than disadvantages characterized these adolescents’ views of this type of close relationship.

Studie představuje reprezentace pojmu „chodit s někým“, jak jej popisují patnáctiletí adolescenti, respondenti studie ELSPAC. Dále shrnuje, co dospívající pokládají za výhody a nevýhody romantického/partnerského vztahu. Většina patnáctiletých adolescentů udávala, že momentálně prožívá nebo v minulosti již prožila partnerský vztah. Více výpovědí o tom, co si představují pod pojmem „chodit s někým“ a také více nevýhod udávaly dívky oproti chlapcům. V rozhovorech adolescenti reagovali na otázku „co to podle Tebe znamená chodit s někým“ nejčastěji odpověďmi obecného charakteru. Druhá nejčetnější kategorie v sobě zahrnovala výpovědi, které jsou charakteristické pro reprezentaci přátelství – společné volnočasové aktivity, humor, zábava atd. Celkově adolescenti méně uvažovali o negativních aspektech romantického vztahu a v hodnocení převažovaly spíše přínosy a zisky.
