Ryzyko banków centralnych w warunkach nadzwyczajnej polityki monetarnej

Risk exposure of world’s largest central banks, due to unconventional monetary policy, implemented in response to the global financial crisis, is currently a major problem. This issue, rarely analyzed so far, in the study has become a subject of particular interest. The main aim of the article is the exploration of types of risk of modern central banks and the analysis of causes of its increase. The study points out that the unconventional monetary policy of central banks is accompanied by an increase of their financial risk, which, due to their main causes, leads to reputational risk of modern central banks, impeding them normalization of that policy. Empirical research were focused on analyzing a level and structure of risk of National Bank of Poland and European Central Bank between 2007 and 2015.

Istotnym problemem największych banków centralnych na świecie wobec nadzwyczajnej polityki monetarnej, prowadzonej w reakcji na globalny kryzys finansowy, jest ich ekspozycja na ryzyko. Problematyka ta, dotychczas niezwykle rzadko analizowana, w opracowaniu stała się przedmiotem szczególnego zainteresowania. Celem głównym pracy jest eksploracja typów ryzyka współczesnych banków centralnych oraz analiza przyczyn jego narastania. W artykule wskazuje się, że nadzwyczajnej polityce monetarnej banków centralnych towarzyszy wzrost poziomu ich ryzyka finansowego, które z uwagi na swe główne przyczyny prowadzi do eskalacji ryzyka reputacji współczesnych banków centralnych, utrudniając im normalizację tej polityki. Badania empiryczne skoncentrowano na analizie poziomu oraz struktury ryzyka Narodowego Banku Polskiego i Europejskiego Banku Centralnego w latach 2007–2015.
