Celem artykułu jest ustalenie właściwej formy zapisu leksemu subsumpcja w rozmaity sposób podawanego w najważniejszych słownikach języka polskiego, a także porównanie tego leksemu z wyrazami pokrewnymi. W związku z tym autorki sięgają po słowniki łacińskie, leksykony dawnego i współczesnego języka polskiego, słowniki etymologiczne, słowniki wyrazów obcych, a także słownik oksfordzki i dochodzą do wniosku, że prawidłową formą jest wyraz subsumpcja, gdyż leksem ten jest dawną bezpośrednią pożyczką z języka łacińskiego.

The aim of this article is to present different views on the forms of the lexeme subsumpcja (‘subsumption’) and some cognate words found in Latin lexicons, the most influential dictionaries of the Polish language, Polish etymological lexicons and dictionaries of foreign words as well as The Oxford English dictionary. It is concluded that the correct form of the word is subsumpcja and it is of Latin origin.
