The main aim of this paper was an attempt to systematize the definitional concepts of safety as well as presenting its typology. The most important theoretical approaches, including the types of safety, were explained and the determinants conditioning them were presented. The following research methods were used: comparative and document research, among others, with the application of literary criticism and source analysis as exemplary research techniques.

Zasadniczym celem powstania niniejszego artykułu było podjęcie próby usystematyzowania koncepcji definicyjnych kategorii „bezpieczeństwo” i przedstawienie jego typologii. Dokonano eksplanacji najważniejszych ujęć teoretycznych, w tym rodzajów bezpieczeństwa i przedstawiono determinanty je warunkujące. Wykorzystano m.in. następujące metody badawcze: komparatystyczną i badania dokumentów, przy zastosowaniu krytyki piśmiennictwa i analizy źródeł jako przykładowych technik badawczych.
