This is a short scientific biography and an attempt to characterize all areas of Zenon Kałuża’s research and academic work, including his mentoring efforts. He was an outstanding historian of the philosophy and the general and literary culture of the Middle Ages. Born (1936) and educated in Poland, he settled and worked in France (where he died in 2023), but continued to include the culture of the Polish Middle Ages within his research interests, publishing his works also in Poland and in Polish.
