This article presents selected results of the research carried out in the second half of 2017 as part of a research project entitled International business operations of companies located in science and technology parks in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie voivodeship. The aim of the study was to rec¬ognize the current and planned path of foreign expansion as well as to identify the main factors determining the internationalization of operations. To achieve the goal, literature studies on the subject and the conditions of internationalization of enterprises in relation to the SME group were carried out. Empirical studies were then conducted with the participation of three young, innovative enterprises located in science and technology parks in the Warmińsko-Masurskie Voivodeship. Due to the specificity of business operations and the desire to fully understand the paths of foreign expansion, the empirical study was carried out in two stages: an interview with the questionnaire method using a questionnaire survey and personal interviews with representatives of top man¬agement of individual companies to enrich the results obtained earlier (case study). The results presented are for demonstration only and may not be used for generalisation. Nevertheless, they are an inspiration to undertake in-depth studies of this subject.

Purpose: Commercialization is a step toward new products/services development. Due to high rate of product/service failure in ICT industry, the purpose of this paper is to study and evaluate commercialization methods implemented by companies that operate within ICT industry at the Science and Technology Park of University of Tehran. Design/Methodology/Approach: The methodology of this study is of field research type. After examining commercialization methods presented in the literature and confirming methods found by the discipline elite, structured interviews were conducted addressed managers and experts of ICT companies. Results: Three methods of “joint research contracts”, “exhibitions” and “spin-offs” are among the most common commercialization methods used by companies. Conclusion: Due to uncertainties that exist in ICT industry, companies should consider different strategies in order to develop successful products and services. Finally, specific policies are determined to implement each commercialization method in knowledge-based companies.

The paper focuses on depicting the role of STP as platforms of cooperation enabling the process of technology transfer. The first section of the article concentrates on presenting universities and industry sector as a two key actors playing the pivotal role in the technology transfer. Different modes of their cooperation are shown and deeply described.Next section tackles with the analysis of the innovative environment. The science and technology parks are present in such a milieu and fulfil their role which was attributed to them. The significance of STP is increasing more and more. One of the consequences of that situation is the enhancement of economic conditions of enterprises located within the vicinity of science and technology parks. Thanks to that the local economy can boost. The article finalizes the analysis of the evolution of innovation perceptions (starting from linear innovation, through interactive innovations, up to open innovations) and the role the STP are playing within that process. In the last section the activity of the Krakow Technology Park and it’s impact on the regional economy is broadly presented.

The paper presents four management models of a scientific-technological park built on the basis of the in-depth analysis results of fifteen selected parks in the world. The basic functions of the park were discussed as well as the pros and cons of each model showing the possibilities for their further development. The reference was made to the Polish conditions, indicating that two corporate and network models are the most suitable for Poland. The corporate model based on the active cooperation of technical universities and public and private entities is, according to the authors, the most suitable for use in the case of science and technology parks located near a technical university. The corporate model is an alternative to the network model which allows to create science and technology parks with a dispersed spatial structure.

The article presents four models of science and technology park management, built on the basis of the results of the analysis of 15 selected parks in the world. It discusses the basic functions of the park, advantages and disadvantages of each of the models, indicating also the possibilities of their further development. It has also been related to the Polish conditions, which proved that two models are most suitable for Poland: corporate and network. The corporate model, based on an active cooperation of a technical university with public and private entities, in the opinion of the Authors, is the most appropriate to be applied in the case of science and technology parks created near technical universities. An alternative solution to the corporate one is a network model, allowing for creation of sci-ence and technology parks with scattered spatial structure.
