The motives of serial killers have always been in the forefront of people’s interest. A mentally healthy person cannotconceive what makes serial killers commit their repeated brutal crimes. Bedwetting, arson and torturing of animals couldbe appalling phenomena from childhood according to the characterization of the Macdonald triad. Childhood imprinting, and the environmential circumstances of the perpetrators are also substantial factors as Edwin H Sutherland reckons. Childhoodtrauma may create irreversible changes in the structure of the brain, due to which it begins to think in a different way. Froma neurophysiological aspect, brain damage, the abnormality of brain waves and the dysfunction of brain workings can berevealed in most cases. There is disharmony in the structure of their psyche, therefore their reactions are pathological. Theirdissociative attitude, and identity disorder may derive from lack of parental rearing and a guilty conscience This study is meantto reveal the basic childhood, mental and environmental roots, along with the motivating factors of their actions. Primarily,it outlines the concept of serial killing, and enumerates the diverse types of serial killers and their aftermath. The motivationsare also grouped and supported by the actions, unstable family history and the methods of perpetration of the most notoriouscases.

The interest in the phenomenon of serial killing, became the subject of many disputes. Scientists, on the basis of performed tests, tried to present theories explaining why a will appears in a man to deprive another man of his life. Many of them distinguished, as a basis, an acute feeling of aggression associated with every human being, which gives it free rein in the form of an act of murder. Within the interest, there was not only an attempt to characterize the psychological profile of the perpetrators of multiple murders, but also victimology. This article is mainly intended to gather knowledge on serial killers, but also to formulate new theses trying to explain the phenomenon of serial killings. This is a representation of both scientific theories to explain the presence of serial killers, as well as coverage of the typology of such criminals. In this paper, some comparisons are also drawn between the manner conduct of different types of serial killers. The article also contains the essential elements on the basis of which a psychological portrait of the perpetrator of killing is formed.

Serial killers have always been in the centre of interest for the reason why they murder umpteen victims without self-control, remorse or a sense of guilt. They stalk stealthily and have the capacity to continue their massacre for ages via diverse countries and states. In this study, I intend to widen my previous study on serial killers with more cases and more background information about the roots of their amok from both the psychological aspect and from the aspect of the damage to the frontal lobe, the role of the hypothalamus, the limbic system, and the ventromedial prefrontal cortex as well as the size of the amygdala which enhance the aggressive behaviour and contribute to uncontrolled sadism. I highlight the vital impact of childhood traumas, humiliation, neglect and the principal elements of family history. I comprise some of the most notorious psychopaths and cluster the common traits of these perpetrators. The role of superiority, maintaining power, manipulation, disability in physical characteristics, profit-making, sensation-seeking, deficiencies in empathy, pathological need to control others and attention-seeking are crucial factors as well. According to psychologists, having a grandiose sense of their own self-worth, narcissistic attitude, and addictive personalities may all contribute to murders.

Connections between art and various forms of sychopathy have long fascinated psychologists as well as art critics and have recently become a potent literary theme, as exemplified in Michael White’s novel The Art of Murder, featuring the motif of an artist involved in murder. The article demonstrates how the stereotypical conviction about the correlation between artistic creation and suffering is reinterpreted in the novel via the figure of serial killer, in this case Jack the Ripper. It is argued that White’s novel exemplifies a trend of describing a creative act as mysterious and destructive alike, which developed in the wake of the publication of Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code.

The city in Seven is full of dark and claustrophobic spaces, dominated by three colors: black, green and red. The significance of these colors is associated with sin: laziness (green), impurity (red) and pride (red, white). Desaturation of color and deep blacks throughout the film are the result of artistic treatments such as flyflashing and bleach-bypass. Color is complemented by light – sometimes minimal, other times quite blinding. The sound of thunder and rain complete the picture of the city as a place of moral decay, where two forces are fighting: light and darkness, purity and sin.
