The article presents a poetological analysis of PokaZ (ShoW), a performance directed by Justyna Wielgus that refers to the practices of freak show. Piniewska discusses the compositional strategies used in PokaZ to subversively crip the oppressive form of a freak show. Adopting the perspective of critical disability studies, she reflects on the popular cultural images of disability (a victim, a hero, an eternal child, and a medical specimen) and discourses thereof (the discourse of pity and the medical discourse) addressed in the performance. Her analysis centres on the ways of talking about and looking at disability that shape artistic communication with an audience.

Theatre in the network is a relatively new phenomenon. In Poland, the first shows appearedon the internet only seven years ago, and along with them – a series of questionsabout the legitimacy of such a presentation of art. There were doubts as to whether the internetwill not cause the demise of the classic theatre scenes. Will the availability of showson the network not lead to the emptiness of theatre halls? And finally, how and to whatextent will the internet ensure the protection of creators’ and performers’ copyrights? Onthe other hand, maybe theatre in the network will make it possible to reach more viewers, especially young ones and those from outside the big cities, with limited access to cultural institutions? Is the network an opportunity to save the shows and performances fromoblivion which they would be doomed to on the traditional stage after just a few seasons? This article is an attempt to answer these questions, preceded by an outline of the historyof theatre network in Poland, including the ground-breaking events and institutionsdefining the Polish e-theatre. It is also an attempt to answer the question whether theatrepresented by the internet connection, giving limitless possibilities to the creators, and unlimitedaccess to the audience of a play, is inevitable future or just a passing phenomenon.

The study is a probe into the world of contemporary folklore creation in the Czech lands – quite a young stage genre focused on stage adaptation of folk songs, instrumental compositions and dance, and their transition to the language of the theatre setting. The study is based on the assessment of a series of six biennial shows of folklore ensembles. This series was assessed by means of an analysis of video-records and programme brochures from the perspective of a participant and assessor of the particular years. We were interested in which directions the artistic creation of ensembles, inspired by folklore, is going, which transformations can be observed within this period of twelve years altogether and which issues have remained unchanged from the first attempts to demonstrate folk musical and dance culture on stage. The study is not aimed at an unequivocal classification of all these ways of stage work and topics. In contrast, the author tries to point out the overlaps of diverse views of the same matter, the combination of more approaches which can intersect within a single creative efforts. She tries to capture the tendencies that are safeguarded, transformed or newly discovered within this creative environment. The role of an appropriated institution (the National Information and Consulting Centre for Culture NIPOS-ARTAMA) is emphasized here. This institution provides the participants with an environment perceptive to their utterance, offers various feedback and motivates the participants for their further deeds.

The article presents the most important festivals of street art in Poland in 2014: the reasons of uprising, distinctive features, the ways of organizing and being held. Festival is shown as typical urban phenomenon, with the character referring to carnival’s parade and with the roots reaching the ancient times. These days, the performances in urban space are becoming a common way of getting to the new viewers, showing heretofore existing kinds of performance in another context – full of immediacy and unpredictability. The materials were collected with usage of the Internet sources and also by ethnographical methods – directly from the participants.

This article presents and analyses the genesis, performance context and musical repertoire of The Nativity Scene with Dolls. The phonic material analysed, deposited in The Archive of Music Religious Folklore (AMFR) at the Institute of Musicology of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), was registered in 1974 in Padew Narodowa (Rzeszow Region), and research in the form of a field interview was repeated in 2022. The musical analyses include 27 pieces for which musical transcriptions were made. A detailed description and interpretation of The Nativity Scene with Dolls may be key to understanding local communities. The show reflects the folk world of values, prohibitions and orders, of attitudes to religious and ethnic minorities, to issues of the state, the perception of certain professions, etc. It also shows the image of the world of small communities, elevated to the symbolic level of acting and music.

The glamorous culture affecting education gives rise to the phenomenon of glamor-ous education (glam-education). The main features of glam-education, concerning its substantial, communicative, valuable, organizational components, are discussed in this article. Glam-education is proved to be a demonstration of the personality’s existential crisis in the postmodern society. A brilliant package of glam-education camouflages the death of original thinking, the necrosis of genuine emotions and the lack of a productive imagination of a person.
