W ostatnich latach w Polsce następuje systematyczny wzrost liczby dzieci wychowywanych przez jednego rodzica (matkę lub ojca). Ze względu na zjawisko ciągłego wzrostu liczby rodzin niepełnych, przy niższym standardzie życia członków tych gospodarstw w porównaniu z rodzinami pełnymi, konieczne jest objęcie tej grupy społecznej szczególnym wsparciem, zwłaszcza instytucjonalnym. Pomoc powinna być skierowana przede wszystkim w kierunku zapewnienia możliwości podjęcia pracy przez osoby pełnoletnie w rodzinach niepełnych. Celem artykułu jest charakterystyka porównawcza sytuacji ekonomicznej gospodarstw domowych, w których dziecko jest wychowywane przez jednego rodzica, na tle gospodarstw domowych tworzonych przez rodziny pełne, w tym: analiza wysokości i źródeł uzyskiwania dochodów, poziom i struktura wydatków, spożycie niektórych artykułów oraz wyposażenie w dobra trwałego użytku, a także subiektywna ocena własnej sytuacji materialnej gospodarstw domowych.

Over the recent years, there has been a steady increase in the number of children being raised by a single parent (mother or father). Due to the continuous growth of the phenomenon of single-parent families living in lower standard conditions as compared with complete families (with both parents), it is necessary to give support to this social group, especially institutional. Help should be directed primarily towards securing adults in single-parent families with job opportunities. The purpose of this article is a comparative economic characteristics of the household in which the child is being raised by a single parent and households created by a full family, including: an analysis of the amount and sources of earning an income, the level and the structure of spending, consumption of certain products and possession of durable goods, and subjective assessment of their own financial situation.
