Czy architektura czasów PRL ma znaczenie? Analiza wydarzenia medialnego

Przedmiotem badania w tym tekście jest znaczenie przypisywane obecnie w Polsce architekturze PRL, sposoby jej medialnej interpretacji, opis schematów dziennikarskich oraz argumentacji dotyczącej jej współczesnych losów. Punkt wyjścia analiz stanowi założenie, że funkcją architektury, architektury krajobrazu i planowania przestrzeni jest tworzenie oraz materializacja określonej wizji społeczeństwa i jego społecznej organizacji. Niniejszy artykuł oparty jest na analizie dyskursu medialnego jednego wydarzenia, tj. debaty prasowej – prowadzonej w mediach lokalnych – na temat wyburzenia hali dworca kolejowego w Katowicach. Kwestie poruszane przy tej okazji wskazują, zdaniem autorki tekstu, na różne aspekty społecznego odbioru architektury powstałej w latach 1945–1989.

The article analyses the significance – from the presentday perspective – of the architecture of the Polish People’s Republic, the ways of its interpretations by the mass media, a description of the journalistic schemes and arguments concerning its present fate. The starting point of the analyses is an assumption that the function of architecture, landscape architecture and spatial planning is creation and materialisation of a specific vision of the society and its social organization. The article is based on an analysis of a mass media discourse of one event, a press debate – taking place in the local mass media – on the demolition of the main hall of the Katowice Railway Station. The questions that have appeared indicate – according to the author – different social aspects of social attitude towards the architecture created in the years 1945–1989.
