Wprowadzenie do tomu „Dyskurs sportu i dyskursy o sporcie” składa się z dwóch części. Pierwsza poświęcona jest krótkiemu omówieniu współczesnej pozycji socjologii sportu w Polsce i za granicą, eksponuje żywotność i wielowymiarowość problematyki dotyczącej sportu w debacie naukowej toczonej w naukach społecznych. Druga koncentruje się na omówieniu tematycznego zakresu tomu, który odzwierciedla wielowątkowość naukowej refleksji dotyczącej sportu we współczesnym dyskursie.

The introduction to the volume consists of two parts. The first one is devoted to the concise description of contemporary position of sociology of sport in Poland and abroad, pointing at the vitality and multidimensionality of the sport-related debates in the scientific discourses within social sciences. The second one concentrates on the brief presentation of the thematic content of the volume which illuminates the wide range of scientific reflection concerning sport in the contemporary discourse.

Two books edited by Kevin Young (2016, 2017) present the global landscape of the sociology of sport. The authors give the characteristic of this subdiscipline in their countries. The statements are based on some common key question. But there is a lack of Poland in these analysis. Thus, this text delivers the brief description of sociology of sport in Poland. The review is focused on its three aspects: the past, the present and the future.

W dwóch wydanych niedawno publikacjach pod redakcją Kevina Younga (2016, 2017) przedstawiony został światowy pejzaż socjologii sportu. Autorzy poszczególnych rozdziałów tej publikacji, reprezentujący różne państwa, zostali poproszeni o opisanie rodzimego statusu tej subdyscypliny w oparciu o zbiór pytań kluczowych dla jej scharakteryzowania. Wśród analizowanych krajów nie pojawia się jednak Polska. Niniejszy tekst jest zatem próbą opisania kondycji polskiej socjologii sportu przez pryzmat trzech jej aspektów: przeszłości, teraźniejszości i przyszłości.
