„Węzły i struktury przestrzenne” – w hołdzie Stefanowi du Château

The work of Stéphane du Château is clearly inscribed in the second half of the 20th century. He developed several spatial structures’ systems based on a clever design of nodes, which were all patented. More than two hundred and fifty projects were effectively built. Besides this productive work Stéphane du Château founded several associations in order to gather designers and to promote Spatial Structures. His charisma and his commitment were the keys of a remarkable contribution to spatial structures. This paper is a short summary and a reminder of his achievements and importance for the development of spatial structures.

Twórczość Stefana du Château jest wyraźnie wpisana w rozwój myśli architektonicznej 2. poł. XX w. Opracował on kilka systemów struktur przestrzennych w oparciu o pomysłowy projekt węzłów, które wszystkie zostały opatentowane. Pona d 250 jego projektów zostało w pełni zrealizowanych. Opr ócz tego Stefan du Château założył kilka stowarzyszeń, aby przyciągnąć projektantów i popularyzować struktury przestrzenne. Jego charyzma i zaangażowanie były kluczem do niebywałego rozwoju struktur przestrzennych. Ten artykuł jest krótkim podsumowaniem oraz przypomnieniem jego osiągnięć i ic h znaczenia dla rozwoju konstrukcji przestrzennych.

The structures designed by Stefan J. Medwadowski, an American of Polish origin, are characterized by the conscious effort to defi ne space and fulfi ll function in an aesthetically pleasing manner. His projects have involved a variety of structural systems, including thin shells in concrete and wood, and spatial or grid systems in steel, concrete, and timber. Examples presented include long-span arenas, churches and theatres, concrete buildings, a pedestrian bridge, and steel spatial structures to support optical telescopes.

W swoich pracach Stefan Medwadowski, Amerykanin polskiego pochodzenia, stawiał sobie za cel świadomą kreację spełniających założone funkcje, a jednocześnie estetycznych form konstrukcyjnych. W swoich projektach wykorzystywał różnorodne systemy konstrukcyjne, takie jak cienkie powłoki z betonu i drewna, jak również systemy przestrzenne czy siatkowe ze stali, betonu i drewna. Przedstawione przykłady obejmują wiele różnorodnych projektów takich jak długoprzęsłowe hale sportowe, kościoły i teatry, betonowe budynki, kładkę dla pieszych oraz stalowe konstrukcje przestrzenne podtrzymujące teleskopy optyczne.

The main objective of the study was to identify regularities related to selected aspects of stability of cross-border cooperation on the example of Polish borderlands. The basis for the analysis was a comprehensive study of cross--border cooperation projects Interreg, ETC, ENPI, ENPI implemented in 2007–2013 and 2014–2020. The study covered a total of about 1500 projects in terms of stability of the subject of cooperation and stability of spatial structures of cooperation. The analysis allowed to find partial stability in relation to selected thematic categories of implemented projects and spatial stability in terms of distribution of cooperation beneficiaries by locality.

Głównym celem pracy była identyfikacja prawidłowości związanych z wybranymi aspektami stabilności współpracy transgranicznej na przykładzie pograniczy Polski. Podstawą analizy było kompleksowe badanie projektów współpracy transgranicznej Interreg, EWT, EIS, EISP realizowanych w latach 2007–2013 i 2014–2020. Badaniem objęto łącznie około 1500 projektów w zakresie stabilności przedmiotu współpracy oraz stabilności struktur przestrzennych współpracy. Analiza pozwoliła stwierdzić częściową stabilność w odniesieniu do wybranych kategorii tematycznych realizowanych projektów oraz stabilność przestrzenną w zakresie rozmieszczenia beneficjentów współpracy według miejscowości.
