This article introduces the profi le of Vera Kholodnaya – a silent fi lm actress. The work of the artist, once regarded as one of the biggest stars of the Russian cinema, today is somewhat forgotten. One of the causes of Kholodnaya’s achievements is the fact that most of the fi lms with her participation have not survived to our times. After Bolsheviks came to power, the legacy of the actress, like that of many other fi lmmakers of the pre-revolutionary era, sank to oblivion. The article is an attempt to outline the most important stages of Kholodnaya’s life and artistic activity. The author focuses on the Ukrainian context of the actress’s life, which is usually ignored by researchers in their analysis. Most of them consider Kholodnaya solely a Russian actress (due to the fact that she was featured primarily in the Russian fi lm production). Her adherence to the Ukrainian culture is not only proved by her origin. The evidence of her emotional attachment to Ukraine is also proved by the fact that the last year of her life she spent in Kiev, Kharkov and Odessa performing in the theatre and cinema. The article analyses the causes of Kholodnaya’s popularity phenomenon who is often compared to today’s famous fi lm stars. This paper is an attempt to show the actress not only as «the queen of the screen» (as she was perceived by her contemporaries), but also as a remarkable woman, the inspiration for directors, actors and multitude of her admirers, for whom she was a role model.

Obraz gwiazdy w Ewangelii św. Mateusza był wielokrotnie komentowany przez egze¬ge-tów. Dawniejsze wyjaśnienia oparte na astronomicznych zjawiskach tylko w pewnym stopniu mogą przyczynić się do zrozumienia opowiadania. Inne interpretacje wspominają o starożytnych wierzeniach o gwieździe ukazującej się podczas narodzin ważnych ludzi, ale i one mogą pełnić funkcję jedynie naukowej hipotezy. Nie rozstrzygając dyskusji na temat historycznego tła wydarzeń opisanych w opowiadaniu Mateusza, warto przyjrzeć się bliżej znaczeniu frazy en tē anatolē. Bogata panorama staro¬testa¬mentowych tekstów i powiązania między czasownikiem anatellō (LXX) i jego hebrajskim odpowiednikiem zāraḥ ukazują szerszy kontekst i nowe możliwości jej rozu¬mie¬nia. Zaproponowane wyjaśnienie wspiera waga narracyjnej funkcji gwiazdy w opowiadaniu, w którym magowie prowadzeni jej światłem docierają do nowo narodzonego Króla.

The star image in the Gospel of Matthew has been repeatedly commented upon by many scholars. Some older interpretations, based on various known astronomical phenomena, have proved of limited use in terms of understanding the passage. There are some other explanations that depend upon ancient beliefs about stars appearing at the time an important person comes into the world. All these solutions, however, represent no more than scientific or historical hypothesis. Without entering into historical discussions about stars or the beliefs of ancient generations in the Middle East, the author of the paper proposes to look afresh at one enigmatic phrase in the Matthean story: en tē anatolē. A rich panorama of Old Testament quotations, which serve to connect the verb anatellō (LXX) with its Hebrew equivalent zāraḥ, reveal a wider context and thus some new possibilities for our understanding of the phrase. The author’s explanation is supported by an important narrative function of the star within the story, where the magi seeing its light are led to the newborn King.

The article is an image analysis of ordinary people in television entertainment. Television image ordinary the man is in our times particularly interesting in reality show. Programs reality show are showing the wide image of all sorts social groups: of the wife, the mother or teenagers. It turns out that however it isn't image of the ordinary man. Everyone must be exceptional: mother - lonely, wife - obese, and teenager - talented. In our times everyone can become a television star through reality show.

Artykuł jest analizą obrazu zwykłego człowieka w rozrywce telewizyjnej. Telewizyjny obraz zwykłego człowiek jest współcześnie szczególnie interesujący w reality show. Programy reality show pokazują szeroki obraz różnych grup społecznych. Nie są to jednak zwykli ludzie. Reality show bazują bowiem na wyjątkowości swoich uczestników: muszą mieć talent, skazę, brak umiejętności lub wykazywać się czymś szczególnym. Dzięki temu każdy zwykły człowiek może stać się gwiazdą telewizji. Artykuł pokazuje mechanizmy tworzenia niezwykłych historii zwykłego człowieka w reality show.

In the article the problem of the insufficient highlighting of the axiological contents of the concept “Life power” in the old Slavic mythological imaginations is considered on the basis of the ontological analysis of the plots of European cosmogonic myths. Culturological understanding of the origin of existence is associated with the archetypes Goddess-God-star-bird-flower-doll rooted in the collective subconscious. Such archetypes, belonging to the mythological complex, have reflections of the spring and summer calendar holidays in folklore traditions and in folk art of Ukraine.

W artykule rozpatrywany jest – na podstawie analizy ontologicznej fabuł europejskich mitów kosmogonicznych – problem słabego podkreślenia treści aksjologicznej pojęcia „siła życia” w obrazach z dawnych słowiańskich mitów. Zrozumienie kulturologiczne genezy istnienia wiąże się z zakorzenionymi w zbiorowej podświadomości archetypami Bogini i Boga, gwiazdy i ptaszka, kwiatu i lalki. Takie archetypy, należące do kompleksu mitologicznego, odzwierciedlają wiosenne i letnie święta kalendarzowe w tradycjach ludowych i sztuce ludowej na Ukrainie.

Wśród różnych interpretacji „gwiazdy z Jakuba” z Lb 24,17 ogromną rolę odegrała interpretacja mesjańska, która jest występuje zarówno w tradycji żydowskiej, jak i chrześcijańskiej. Celem tego artykułu jest prześledzenie rozwoju interpretacji motywu tajemniczej „gwiazdy z Jakuba”, poczynając od tekstu masoreckiego Lb 24,17, przez starożytne tłumaczenia, aż po egzegezę wczesnych ojców Kościoła.

Among the various interpretations of “The Star out of Jacob” (Numbers 24:17), the messianic reading, present in both the Jewish and the Christian traditions, has played an enormous role. The purpose of this study is to review the development of different interpretations of “The Star out of Jacob”, starting from the Masoretic Text of Numbers 24:17, proceeding through the ancient versions, and ending up with the exegesis of the early Church Fathers.
