W artykule zaprezentowano założenia II Filaru Strategii Unii Europejskiej dla Regionu Morza Bałtyckiego (SUE RMB) obejmującego kwestie poprawy dobrobytu w regionie. Przybliżono proces powstawania SUE RMB od 2004 r. oraz jej główne założenia. W dalszej części zaprezentowano szczegółowo cele II filaru oraz najważniejsze problemy gospodarcze w regionie, którym ma przeciwdziałać realizacja rozwiązań przedstawionych w Strategii. Wskazano również na zagrożenia, jakie mogą wystąpić w trakcie implementacji podejmowanych działań i przeszkodzić w realizacji nadrzędnych celów SUE RMB.

The article presents objectives of 2nd Pillar of European Union Strategy for Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) – Baltic Sea as an economically prosperous area. Process of adapting the Strategy was exemplified as well as its major aims. In the further part detailed objectives of 2nd Pillar were presented along with major economical problems in region, that should be overcome with projects presented in Strategy. Finally article presents main threats possible while implementing EUS BSR actions.
