This paper identified attitudes toward CALL of students studying English as a foreign language (EFL) at industrial colleges in Saudi Arabia. Seventy students who were enrolled in the orientation year of an English program were chosen to participate in this study by expressing their attitudes toward CALL. Standardized and local instruments were used along with interviews and observation techniques to collect data. The results of the study revealed that students had positive attitudes toward CALL. Looking at the daily hours students spend using a computer, a slight correlation was found between this variable and the students’ attitudes toward CALL. Other variables, such as students’ background knowledge of English, ownership of a computer, and their computer knowledge, were found to be irrelevant to their attitudes toward CALL. These results were in line with previous research conducted by Al-Shammari (2007), Alrumaih (2004), and Almekhlafi (2006). The results reinforced conclusions about CALL revealed by researchers, such as Chen (2003), Chikamatsu (2003), Egbert (2005) and Levy (2005), who found that it helps students learn better and more independently, and gives them the ability to have more control of their learning and to have more opportunities to practice English.

Student-directed teaching and assessment techniques are gradually dominating educational systems almost all over the world. This study investigated a cohort of male and female Iranian EFL students’ attitudes toward self-, peer-, and teacher-assessment experiences. Sixty three students at Urmia University and Tabriz Islamic Azad University, in the form of three intact classes, experienced self-, peer-, and teacher assessment activities for one academic semester (having taken a knowledge pretest, four assessment series, and a course achievement posttest). Of all the participants, 38 completed a 5-point Likert-scale attitude questionnaire. The application of ANOVA, across and within group dependent samples t tests, as well as some qualitative analyses, indicated that the three experimental groups had positive attitudes toward their assessment experiences. While the peer-assessment group was the most positive in this regard, slight differences were found in the groups’ attitudes and beliefs. Further findings and implications are discussed in the paper.

Artificial intelligence (AI), the result of the dynamic development of information technology, has been the subject of research for several decades. ChatGPT is an intelligent system that generates answers to arbitrary questions, and one of its fields of application is education. This article presents the results of a survey conducted as part of a teaching course in management among students at the Krakow University of Economics. The research was aimed at identifying students' opinions on the possibility of using ChatGPT in solving specific decision-making problems and was conducted during the didactic classes in the summer semester of the academic year 2022/23. The article describes the origin and development of ChatGPT, presents the research method and the results of the research. A discussion of the results obtained with conclusions presented in the scientific literature is also made. The analysis shows that the majority of the students surveyed were positive about the use of the ChatGPT system in their classes. The students' responses to the open-ended question revealed different opinions. On the one hand, the benefits of using ChatGPT as a learning support tool were pointed out, such as facilitating information retrieval, paraphrasing text or creating work plans. On the other hand, concerns were raised about laziness, plagiarism and the loss of the ability to search for information reliably and efficiently.

The aim of the presented study is to analyse the diversity of social attitudes of students during the pandemic towards changes in the functioning of universities and teaching methods. In mid-March 2020, after the suspension of classes at universities, the academic community faced the dilemma of choosing new options for continuing education and choosing the most appropriate forms. Despite the availability of e-learning platforms by universities, it was possible to observe a varied degree of their use, both by students and academic teachers. In the case of students, a large part quite quickly accepted new forms of remote teaching, but also some of them, for various reasons, did not undertake any activity in this area. The main problems that emerged were related to the technical and organisational possibilities of using the new tools for continuing education. Due to the new situation, it becomes important from the point of view of the basic goals of higher education to recognise the diversity of students’ attitudes towards new study conditions, in particular: determining the scope of students’ knowledge about new didactic tools, establishing basic barriers preventing students from taking up classes in new forms of e-learning, learning about the students’ assessment of the offered and used forms of distance learning, learning about the students’ assessment of the organisation and ways of implementing remote classes. The study attempts to answer the research questions based on the survey conducted in the first quarter of 2021, on a sample of over 3,000 students from universities located in the Wielkopolska region in Poland.

W związku z nową sytuacją ważne z punktu widzenia podstawowych celów szkolnictwa wyższego staje się rozpoznanie zróżnicowania postaw studentów wobec nowych warunków studiowania, a w szczególności: ustalenie zakresu wiedzy studentów na temat nowych narzędzi dydaktycznych, ustalenie podstawowych barier uniemożliwiających studentom podjęcie zajęć dydaktycznych w nowych formach e-learningowych, poznanie oceny studentów oferowanych i zastosowanych form nauczania zdalnego oraz organizacji i sposobów realizacji zajęć zdalnych. W opracowaniu podjęto próbę odpowiedzi na postawione pytania badawcze w oparciu o badania ankietowe, przeprowadzone w pierwszym kwartale 2021 roku, na próbie ponad 3 tys. studentów z uczelni zlokalizowanych w województwie wielkopolskim.
