W artykule poruszono zagadnienie dystrybucji sufiksów *-ьje i *-ov-ьje w pierwotnych collectivach zachowanych w toponimii polskiej, np. Dąbie wobec Bukowie. Słowiański materiał porównawczy wskazuje, że rozszerzony wariant sufiksu -ov-ьje powstał m.in. w derywatach od tematów na *-ū, poprzez substytucję sufiksu tematycznego *-ъv- przez *-ov-. W tekście zasugerowano, że sufiks *-ьje pierwotnie tworzył abstracta odprzymiotnikowe, z których później rozwinęła się jego funkcja kolektywna.

The paper deals with the issue of the distribution of the suffixes *-ьje and *-ov-ьje in collective nouns preserved in Polish toponyms, e.g. Dąbie vs. Bukowie. Comparative Slavic data indicate that the extended variant of the suffix *-ov-ьje originated, among other things, in derivatives of *ū-stems due to the substitution of the thematic suffix *-ъv- by *-ov-. It is suggested that the suffix *-ьje primarily derived abstract nouns from adjectives, which eventually gave rise to its collective function.
